Cuba’s Fidel Castro calls OAS a “U.S. Trojan horse”

Posted by smeddum on June 5, 2009

HAVANA, June 3 (Xinhua) — Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro on Wednesday slammed the Organization of American States (OAS) as a “U.S. Trojan horse,” despite the group’s decision to lift suspension against the island country.

Castro, who ruled Cuba from 1959 to 2006, ruled out Cuba’s potential return to the body.

The OAS was “complicit” in all the crimes committed against Cuba and against other Latin American nations by Washington, he said in an article published in Wednesday’s state-run media. Read the rest of this entry »

REFLECTIONS OF FIDEL
Trapped by history

Fidel Castro Ruz

DANIEL’s appearance on National Television’s “Roundtable” was exactly as I had expected. He spoke with eloquence; he was persuasive, serene, irrefutable.

He did not offend, nor did he wish to offend any other Latin American country, but sticking to the truth in every minute of his appearance: Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicaragua, as spokespersons for the ALBA, expressly rejected the idea of the Final Declaration being presented as a consensus agreement. should express ‘solidarity’ with Cuba [AFP]

Evo Morales, the Bolivian president, has said that all
Latin American nations should expel US ambassadors in their country’s until the American economic embargo against Cuba is ended.

Speaking on Wednesday at the end of a two-day summit of Latin American leaders in Brazil, Morales said it would be a “radical move” to express “solidarity” with the Carribbean nation.

“If the United States does not raise the blockade, we will remove our ambassadors until the United States government lifts its economic blockade on the Cuban people,” he said.

Morales expelled the US ambassador to Bolivia in September, accusing him of siding with violent opposition protests.

Both Morales and Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan leader, have expressed hope that Barack Obama, the US president-elect, will remove the embargo on Cuba. Read the rest of this entry »

Empowering Cuba to Save More African Lives

African Diaspora: Empowering Cuba to Save More African Lives

August 23, 2008

The bravery and fervor Cuban Revolutionaries have displayed since time immemorial, from Jose Marti (whom Fidel Castro affectionately refers to as the Apostle of the revolution) and General Antonio Maceo to Che Guevara and Vilma Espin, have always been an inspiration to those who truly love freedom and justice. This passion for world peace stems from the revolutionary values which are at the core of Cuban society. Often times, the world has seen how willing Cubans are to give their lives and resources in pursuit of freedom and justice-such as they did at the US led Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961,and in Angola, Mozambique and Guinee Bissau. A more current example of this courage are the 5 Cuban patriots, who are illegally imprisoned in US jails, because they decided to risk their lives to prevent further acts of naked aggression and terrorism against their beloved homeland, by the counter revolutionary Cuban forces in Miami who are openly aligned with the Bush administration. It is quite interesting that despite this rich history of sacrifice, Commandante Fidel Castro has humbly indicated on many occasions that the greatest army ever assembled in Cuba, is that of the medical brigades. These professional and well trained brigades have many times represented their country patriotically not only at home but throughout the world. Read the rest of this entry »

The McCain Tour and the Manifest Destiny of the U. S. Fourth Fleet

REFLECTIONS BY FIDEL

The McCain Tour and the Manifest Destiny of the U. S. Fourth Fleet

(Translated by ESTI) Granma

While I was preparing a reflection about McCain’s relationship with the anti-Cuban terrorist mafia in Miami and other related subjects of historical interest, fresh news was flowing about this character that is being projected by the empire’s hawks as Bush’s replacement: his visit to Colombia and Mexico which will begin tomorrow. It is not possible to avoid them since they confirm the opinions we have held. Read the rest of this entry »
