A second Brexit referendum? It’s looking more likely by the day

Posted by seumasach on August 3, 2017

Vernon Bogdanor is a rarity in British politics, combining clear logical mind with a comprehensive knowledge of the British political system. The outcome here however depends on wider geopolitical issues which have come into stark focus following the defeat of Trump’s political agenda by the US establishment aided and abetted by the Brexit junta. Britain’s apparently haphazard, insouciant approach to Brexit negotiations reflect this new alliance which seeks to destabilize the EU as well as Russia and China. The geopolitical stakes have suddenly reached new heights with real risks of global war. For the moment the spotlight is on Europe and whether the European leadership can defend itself against its one-time allies, the USA and the UK.

Guardian

3rd August, 2017

Negotiations on Britain’s withdrawal from the EU have now begun in earnest. They are required, according to article 50, to “take account of the framework” for Britain’s “future relationship with the union”. But what is that future relationship to be?

Late last week, RT reported that the State Department had approved ordering 630 pieces of sniper equipment for the Ukrainian army, including dozens of Leupold Mark 6 optical sight kits, tripods, laser range finders, camouflage kits and other items. The US establishment against the rest of the world

Thierry Meyssan

Voltairenet

1st August, 2017

The US ruling class feels threatened by the international changes prompted by President Trump. It has just united in order to force him under the guardianship of Congress. In a law which was voted almost unanimously, it has re-introduced sanctions against North Korea, Iran and Russia, and has unravelled the investments of the European Union and those of China. For them, it is essential to block the President’s policy of cooperation and development, and to return to the Wolfowitz doctrine of confrontation and suzerainety.

The level of lunacy we’ve reached can be measured by the brouhaha over the presence of Russian photographers in the Oval Office during Sergey Lavrov’s visit: no US photographers were allowed, but the Russians somehow got in and the Paranoid Brigade went into overdrive. They may have planted “bugs” there! No, this wasn’t nutjob Louise Mensch, the queen of the Russia-haters, but “former intelligence officials,” including the former deputy director of the CIA, David Cohen.

May sends gunboat in “dramatic show of strength”

Posted by seumasach on January 30, 2017

30th January, 2017

After centuries of gunboat diplomacy this pathetic move, this  “dramatic show of strength” as the Mail puts it without irony, is a fitting epilogue, the end of a long, bloody and, eventually, failed imperial project.

Poland ready to offer David Cameron EU welfare deal in exchange for Nato bases

Posted by seumasach on January 4, 2016

The imperial periphery , sensing imperial retrenchment, is trying to force a strengthened NATO commitment. This would also be why the Polish government launched a police raid against a NATO intelligence centre. In effect, they are saying : turn us into a forward NATO base against Russia or we’ll turn our back on NATO. But Poland is playing a very weak hand : the New Cold War is running out of steam and who is Poland to breathe new life into it? Furthermore, Britain is no longer the influencial force it pretends to be.

Telegraph

3rd January, 2016

Poland is ready to drop its fierce opposition to David Cameron’s welfare plans if he supports a call to permanently base Nato troops in the country.
