I take my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
- The Who, Won’t Get Fooled Again
Were this an ad, the catchphrase would be “the sound of a new generation”. A group of seven young January 25 revolutionaries, including Wael “Google Gandhi” Ghonim, met two members of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, in what The Arabist blog identified as “the Facebook kids meets the generals”, or Generation Y meets the Ancien Regime (which happens to be the new regime as well …)

With the advent, then the continuation of the Quantitative Easing exercise in hyper-inflation and capital destruction, the US Federal Reserve has perhaps taken its deeply damaged reputation as a central banker and decimated it into shreds. They have lost the respect of the world, more so outside the nation’s borders than inside. The financial sector and politicians seem unable to stop showing deep reverence for the post, even licking the Chairman’s boots whenever he appears before the USCongress. Recent hints of contempt in WashingtonDC are encouraging. He has not made a single correct forecast on major items. The USFed in short has lost control. See the rising bond yields, which torpedo the housing ship, badly listing as a derelict vessel. The USFed seems thoroughly content to rescue the big US banks, whose wretched condition cannot possibly be rectified, even if such a rescue results in global price inflation and revolts. The decision made after recognition that a recent QE chapter has failed is clearly to repeat it. When QE2 is exhausted or deemed a failure, expect QE3 at the doorstep. This behavior exhibits insanity. The February package of Hat Trick Letter reports includes a special report entitled “USFed as Agent of Destruction”that elaborates on the deep damage.

It is also believed the chemicals in pesticides interfere with the bees’ personal electrical and chemical signals, causing problems for their navigation systems.
What else is a rather more obvious candidate for interfering with their navigation systems?

Just four years. That’s how long Albert Einstein reportedly said the human race would last in a world without bees. For the master of relativity, the equation was relatively simple: no more bees = no more people. And while there is debate over whether the great physicist made the claim, no one disputes that we would be in serious trouble were bees to disappear.

The United States State Department has announced that the trilateral United States-Pakistan-Afghanistan meeting at foreign minister level, scheduled to take place in Washington on February 23-24, has been indefinitely postponed. Washington ascribes the postponement due to a cabinet reshuffle in Islamabad on Friday in which foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was replaced.

The UK economy is a chamber of horrors with scary encounters with the spectres of inflation, unemployment, bankruptcy and, horror of horrors, the unmentionable run on the pound.

Traders have warned that inflation is undermining the work done by the Coalition’s austerity measures to keep interest rates under control. The yield on 10-year gilts has jumped half a percentage point since the start of the year and a whole percentage point since September to 3.87pc, escalating the cost of raising new Government debt.
