The exposure of Werrity fits in, then, with the moves against the Murdoch press in that it is consistent with the marginalization of pro-Zionist elements within ruling circles. This would, then, be, not a move against an attack on Iran, but against an association of any such attack with Israel. In fact, it would be a move to facilitate an attack on Iran by removing any association with Zionism and even by pushing Israel to a compromise with the Palestinians. The liberal imperialists know that pro-western elements inside Iran’s green movement are not pro-Zionist and that, therefore, Israel is an obstacle to mobilising them against Ahmadinejad.

The admission by the Justice Department that they know the alleged perpetrator of the anthrax attacks did not have the means to create anthrax in his lab is hardly surprising: after all, this is an “investigation” that has been so mishandled that one has to question whether the point of it was ever to find the real culprit.

Even as U.S. militarization of the Horn of Africa has contributed massively to the threatened starvation of millions, the Americans have announced an escalation of drone attacks against Somalia and the establishment of a Marine task force for the region. A United Nations spokesman describes the food and refugee emergency in Somalia as the “worst humanitarian crisis in the world,” with millions at immediate risk. Not coincidentally, the epicenter of the disaster is the area where Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia meet – which is also a focus of U.S. Special Forces, surveillance and logistics activity.
