Russian-NATO Relations -Cold War Shivers

24th December, 2008

2008 will be remembered as a turning point in Russia’s relations with the West. It was a tumultuous year, with Kosovo, missiles in Europe and NATO’s seemingly relentless march eastward like thunderclouds gathering on Russia’s horizon, which finally burst 8 August over South Ossetia, bringing tragedy to Georgians, triumph and tragedy to Ossetians and Russians, as the Russian army stopped short of Tbilisi in their defence of the plucky Ossetians.

Did Saakashvili lie? The West begins to doubt Georgian leader

Posted by smeddum on October 13, 2008

While this article tries to muddy the waters, in its closing remarks, there is enough evidence to show that Georgia began this war. The shift in western opinion is significant.

DID SAAKASHVILI LIE?
The West Begins to Doubt Georgian Leader

By SPIEGEL Staff
Five weeks after the war in the Caucasus the mood is shifting against Georgian President Saakashvili. Some Western intelligence reports have undermined Tbilisi’s version of events, and there are now calls on both sides of the Atlantic for an independent investigation. Read the rest of this entry »

A Major War: Not Just Rumors
by Srdja Trifkovic

The crisis in relations between the United States and Russia over Georgia heralds a particularly dangerous period in world affairs: the era of asymmetrical multipolarity. A major war between two or more major powers is more likely in this configuration than in any other model of global balance known to history. Read the rest of this entry »

False Flag alert: Georgia develops huge provocation against Russia

Georgia develops huge provocation against Russia
18.08.2008 Source: Pravda.Ru URL: http://english.pravda.ru/hotspots/conflicts/106135-provocation-0

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev stated Sunday that Russia would begin to withdraw its troops from Georgia on August 18. Peacemakers and units of the 58th army, which participated in the peace-enforcement operation after Georgia’s aggression in South Ossetia, will thus leave the territory of Georgia. The decision marked Moscow’s initiative in the implementation of the document originally signed by Dmitry Medvedev and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

It seems that Georgia does not intend to abide by its obligations. Nothing has been reported about Georgia’s plans to pull out its troops from the conflict zone. Moreover, Russian defense officials said that Georgia was conducting subversive military activities in the Caucasus. To crown it all it was said that Georgia was developing a massive provocation against Russia in the town of Gori. Read the rest of this entry »

Georgia War a Neocon Election Ploy?

Posted by seumasach on August 18, 2008

This explanation does make sense of otherwise incomprehensible events. The author, however, fails to point out the relationship of Obama to the anti-Russian agenda of Brzezinski and Soros. The fact that McCain has stolen the Democrats clothes on this issue also then explains another peculiarity of this affair: the fact that the various left networks have, for the most part, suddenly stopped banging the anti-Russian drum.

Truth Dig

august 12th, 2008

Is it possible that this time the October surprise was tried in August, and that the garbage issue of brave little Georgia struggling for its survival from the grasp of the Russian bear was stoked to influence the U.S. presidential election?

Neocons Humanity’s Greatest Enemy

Posted by smeddum on August 17, 2008

Roberts is mistaken in attributing the anti-Russian agenda to the Republicans: some neo-cons even stood out against the independence of Kosovo whereas Obama’s link to the russophobe Brzezinski is now well known. It appears, rather, that they have stolen the Democrats’ clothes on this issue. They may, of course, be more capable of carrying through on their threats, but the main concern of the Republicans is to hold power in order to stop any repercussions of their crimes of the last eight years. The bizarre and brutal attack on South Ossetia may just have done the trick.

There May Be Many Mushroom
Clouds In Our Future

The success of the Bush Regime’s propaganda, lies, and deception with gullible and inattentive Americans since 9/11 has made it difficult for intelligent, aware people to be optimistic about the future of the United States. For almost 8 years the US media has served as Ministry of Propaganda for a war criminal regime. Americans incapable of thinking for themselves, reading between the lines, or accessing foreign media on the Internet have been brainwashed. Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t forget what happened in Yugoslavia

Published 14 August 2008
Even as Blair the war leader was on a triumphant tour of “liberated” Kosovo, the KLA was ethnically cleansing more than 200,000 Serbs and Roma from the province
The secrets of the crushing of Yugoslavia are emerging, telling us more about how the modern world is policed. The former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia in The Hague, Carla Del Ponte, this year published her memoir The Hunt: Me and War Criminals. Largely ignored in Britain, the book reveals unpalatable truths about the west’s intervention in Kosovo, which has echoes in the Caucasus. Read the rest of this entry »

Putin’s Winning Hand:

Once the Atlantic Alliance is shattered, America’s lifeline to the world is kaput

By Mike Whitney

16/08/08 “ICH” — – There are no military installations in the city of Tskhinvali. In fact, there are no military targets at all. It is an industrial center consisting of lumber mills, manufacturing plants and residential areas. It is also the home to 30,000 South Ossetians. When Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili ordered the city to be bombed by warplanes and shelled by heavy artillery last Thursday, he knew that he would be killing hundreds of civilians in their homes and neighborhoods. But he ordered the bombing anyway. Read the rest of this entry »

Georgians denounce Saakashvili regime’s aggression

Posted by smeddum on August 16, 2008

The Georgian Peace Committee declares asks World public opinion not to identify the current Georgian leadership with the people of Georgia, with the Georgian nation. Globalresearch.ca

Declaration of the Georgian Peace Committee

Once more Georgia was launched into a situation of chaos and bloodshed. A new fratricidal war exploded with renewed strength on Georgian soil.

To our great disappointment, the alerts of the Georgian Peace Committee and of progressive personalities of Georgia on the pernicious character of the militarization of the country and on the danger of a pro-fascist and nationalist policy had no effect. The authorities of Georgia once again organized a bloody war, feeling the support of some Western countries and of regional and international organizations. It will take decades to cleanse the shame poured by the current holders of the power over the Georgian people. Read the rest of this entry »
