A prominent political analyst says he believes the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are responsible for fueling violence in Syria.

“This is an American decision. I guess they are telling people from Lebanon or from Turkey, the borders of Jordan to smuggle arms to the gangs in Syria,” Lebanese University professor Mohsen Saleh said in an exclusive interview with Press TV.

The remarks come after Lebanese forces confiscated two separate shipments of weapons which were destined to Syria for opposition forces.

Saleh added that the Riyadh’s recent decision to recall its ambassador from Damascus had been taken under Washington influence.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain have summoned their ambassadors from Syria.

On Sunday Saudi King Abdullah condemned the ongoing violence in Syria and described the situation as unacceptable.

This comes despite Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the bloody crackdown of anti-regime protesters in Bahrain.

Syria has accused the United States and Saudi Arabia of interfering in its internal affairs. Damascus blames foreign-backed armed gangs for the ongoing violence.

Saleh concluded that Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah was pursuing the US interest in the Middle East.

More on Ivin’s Affair

The admission by the Justice Department that they know the alleged perpetrator of the anthrax attacks did not have the means to create anthrax in his lab is hardly surprising: after all, this is an “investigation” that has been so mishandled that one has to question whether the point of it was ever to find the real culprit.

22nd July, 2011

Recently, the bond rating agencies that gave junk derivatives triple-A ratings threatened to downgrade US Treasury bonds if the White House and Congress did not reach a deficit reduction deal and debt ceiling increase.  The downgrade threat is not credible, and neither is the default threat.  Both are make-believe crises that are being hyped in order to force cutbacks in Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

Black Agenda Report

Even as U.S. militarization of the Horn of Africa has contributed massively to the threatened starvation of millions, the Americans have announced an escalation of drone attacks against Somalia and the establishment of a Marine task force for the region. A United Nations spokesman describes the food and refugee emergency in Somalia as the “worst humanitarian crisis in the world,” with millions at immediate risk. Not coincidentally, the epicenter of the disaster is the area where Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia meet – which is also a focus of U.S. Special Forces, surveillance and logistics activity.
