In These New Times

A new paradigm for a post-imperial world

Archive for the ‘Ecological and Public Health Crisis’ Category

The reckless depredations of corporate power and neo-Malthusian enthusiasts within the elite threaten our environment and our very survival. EM radiation, disappearing bees and pollinators, heavy metal toxicity, GM crops and soil depletion are amongst the most immediate dangers we face.

Riz gets bee buzz right – Experiment shows fallout of mobile radiation

New Delhi, May 26: Concerns that cellphones pose a threat to honeybees, articulated by Shah Rukh Khan’s character in My Name Is Khan, have now been bolstered by Panjab University zoologist Neelima Kumar’s experiments.

Electromagnetic radiation from cellphones appears to alter the behaviour of bees, her experiments suggest and add fresh evidence to observations reported by a team of German researchers seven years ago.

Changes in honeybee behaviour and biology under the influence of cellphone radiations

Posted by seumasach on May 29, 2010

Reports of such a colony collapse in nature in develop-

ing countries like India where electromagnetic radiation

(EMR) based technologies are comparatively new are

absent. It is possible that the electrosmog that prevails in

the advanced countries of the world has not yet affected

these countries. We are fortunate that the warning bells

have been sounded and it is for us to timely plan strate-

gies to save not only the bees but life from the ill effects

of such EMR.

Increase in the usage of electronic gadgets has led to

electropollution of the environment. Honeybee behav-

iour and biology has been affected by electrosmog

since these insects have magnetite in their bodies

which helps them in navigation. There are reports of

sudden disappearance of bee populations from honey-

bee colonies. The reason is still not clear. We have

compared the performance of honeybees in cellphone

radiation exposed and unexposed colonies. A signifi-

cant (p < 0.05) decline in colony strength and in the

egg laying rate of the queen was observed. The behav-

iour of exposed foragers was negatively influenced by

the exposure, there was neither honey nor pollen in

the colony at the end of the experiment.

Cellphone buzz threaten honeybee survival: Study

Posted by seumasach on May 29, 2010

And so the much derided University of Koblenz-Landau experiment has been pretty much replicated by Indian scientists with the same incriminating results regarding EM radiation as a disrupter of honey bee activity. Will western press hacks swarm menacingly or quietly ignore it? We now have a body of work coming out of India around this crucial issue and hopefully they will start to take preventive action. Meanwhile the dying western civilization dooms itself with its ignorant and self-destructive deployment of military-industrial technology.

New Delhi, May 28 (PTI) Electromagnetic rays emitted by cellphones may sound the death knell for the honeybee which has been found to have altered its behaviour leading to the complete collapse of bee colonies, says a new study.

Stratford Ontario: the invisible danger to a beautiful small city

Posted by seumasach on May 28, 2010

Stratford, Ontario

26 May 2010

Stratford City Council

Dear Members of Council:

I have provided each of you and the Clerk with a compact disc containing several documents that illustrate the dangers and adverse health effects of electro magnetic radiation (EMR). By reading the information, you should begin to understand the great dangers caused by exposure to EMR and, in particular, radiation in the microwave frequencies. Please feel free to copy these discs and provide them to your friends, relatives, and constituents, because the information may help to save them from serious harm.

In 1962 the US Defence department learned that Soviet authorities were beaming microwaves from across the street directly into the US embassy in Moscow. Measurements taken at the time found that the intensity reaching the Embassy was approximately 500 times less than the US standard for occupational exposure. The death of the U.S. Ambassador, two other employees and illnesses of other staff, caused Operation Pandora to be launched and scientific research to be conducted. Analysis of the original data by Prof. Goldsmith concluded about the Moscow study that, evidence was suggestive for four health effects, (a) chromosomal changes, (b) hematological changes, (c) reproductive effects, and (d) increased cancer incidence from the microwave irradiation.

Russia says genetically modified foods are harmful

Posted by seumasach on May 26, 2010

The researchers discovered that animals that eat GM foodstuffs lose their ability to reproduce.j

This might go some way to explaining why the Anglo-American elite are so exited about them. Their obsession with population control especially via loss of female fertility is quite explicit in works such as Charles Galton Darwin’s  “The Next Million Years”(1953)

The Voice of Russia

16th April, 2010

Russia has started the annual Days of Defence against Environmental Hazards from the 15th of April to the 5th of June with the announcement of sensational results of an independent work of research. Scientists have proved that Genetically Modified Organisms are harmful for mammals. The researchers discovered that animals that eat GM foodstuffs lose their ability to reproduce. Campbell hamsters that have a fast reproduction rate were fed for two years with ordinary soya beans, which are widely used in agriculture and those contain different percentages of GM organisms. Another group of hamsters, the control group, was fed with pure soya, which was found with great difficulty in Serbia because 95 percent of soya in the world is transgenic.

Cell phone radiation dangers-witness statement by Andrew Goldsworthy

Posted by seumasach on May 20, 2010

I am attaching a copy of a Witness Statement that I sent in response to a request from the Standing Committee on Health of the Canadian House of Commons. It covers many aspects of the non-thermal effects of cell phone radiation, but perhaps the most important observation is that the greatest threat to mankind comes from its effects on sperm, which can lead to infertility and progressive genetic damage to future generations. However, unlike the Interphone study, which took many years to reach even inconclusive results, the effects on sperm can be shown clearly in a matter of days and used to assess the biological safety of virtually all forms of wireless telecommunications.

Interphone Study Design Flaws- another whitewash of cell phone risk

Posted by seumasach on May 19, 2010

Lloyd Morgan, B.Sc., lead author of the landmark report, “Cellphones and Brain Tumors: 15 Reasons for Concern”, discusses the flaws in the Interphone study that render it unreliable as a gauge of risk of brain tumors from cell phones. The 11 design flaws grossly understimate the risk, and even still, the Interphone study, just pubished in the International Journal of Epidemiology, still shows statistically significant increased risk of brain tumors after 10 years of cellphone use. This is ominous because toxicants often take decades to show tumor risks, and we are seeing it at just 10 years. Cell phone usage rates in the Interphone study were just a fraction of cell phone usage rates today among adults and children alike. Finally, without explanation, results were not pubished for acoustic neuromas and salivary gland tumors which are the tumors closest to the ear against which one places the cell phone.

Gaia Health

12th May, 2010

In typical hubristic fashion, the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC) has stripped Dr. Sarah Myhill of many of the functions required to care for her patients, while allowing doctors who have killed patients with sloppiness, lies, and egregious errors to continue in practice. She harmed no one, and no such accusation was made. Not a single patient has complained.

Mobile phones not responsible for disappearance of bees: senior engineer

Posted by seumasach on May 15, 2010

So Chinese scientists are cretins too!

Here we find some very dubious premises: if something hasn’t been proved you don’t investigate it: what matters is who you think should be blamed: if the radiation level isn’t high enough to heat the bee, it can’t be high enough to disturb its navigation system: it can’t be mobile phones because it might be something else.

In sum, whatever it is, it isn’t mobile phones.

If our future is in the hands of scientists like this, it is bleak indeed!

Click here for the evidence that EM radiation is responsible for the disappearance of the bees.

Smart Grid

15th May, 2010

NINGBO, Zhejiang, May 15, 2010 (Xinhua via COMTEX) — A senior Chinese engineer said Saturday that no scientific evidence has proved that radiation from mobile phones had caused abrupt disappearance of bees since last Autumn.

“I don’t think handsets radiation should be blamed for the decrease of bees,” said Wu Hequan, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, at a forum on information and communication technologies in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Expo.

Some scientists are putting forward the theory that radiation from mobile phones interferes with bees’ navigation systems, preventing the famously homeloving species from finding their way back to their hives, according to a British newspaper The Independent.

Wu, also an expert in broadband information network, said radiation from mobile phones posed no verifiable threat to bees’ survival as the amount of radiation from a mobile phone base station was not even stronger than that from a microwave oven.

He pointed to rapid urbanization, decreasing plants and worsening ecological environment as a possible answer to the disappearance which started in the United States last Autumn and then spread to Europe.
