President Barack Obama’s decision to make Israel his first official visit abroad after the inauguration is both symbolic as well as hugely substantive. Symbolic in the sense that he will be underscoring the centrality of the Middle East in the United States’, foreign policy agenda, and signaling that carrying Israel along is useful.

Famous leader of FPLP supports Syrian army and Syrian people

Posted by seumasach on February 7, 2013

[“I am crying at the top of my voice: We are with the Syrian army and the Syrian people. We have confidence in the people of Syria who have, for more than sixty years taken we Palestinians under their wing and welcomed us in their country. We are sure they will prevail”]

Resistencia Libia

Hillary Clinton’s departure was carefully orchestrated to preserve her chances of becoming the Democratic Party’s candidate for the next presidential election. The former first lady still contemplates returning to the White House and all the bets are on for a spectacular duel in 2016 between the two political dynasties, with Jeb Bush (GWB’s elder brother) as the other contestant.

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts – Iran and the United States are on the verge of a historical opportunity to repair their frozen relations and thus reverse the spiral of conflict spiral that for years has dominated their interactions. It is the right thing to do and at the right time, given the fact that more often than not past opportunities were lost simply because one side or the other was not “ready”.

Thank you, Mr. President.
Dear Ministers, dear colleagues.

Belgium is indeed the land of surrealism. This morning we learned from the media that the Belgian army is incapable of subduing some extremist soldiers with radical Islamist beliefs embedded within its own ranks and who cannot be dismissed for lack of legal means. However, at the same time, we decide to help France in its war against “terror” by providing logistical support for its operation in Mali.

Free Syrian Army turns against France

France organized the Free Syrian Army (FSA), going so far as to endow it with its own flag, that of the French Mandate of Syria (1920-1946). She officially provided the FSA with arms and funding, in breach of international treaties. And, unofficially, she flanked it by officers and trainers with the aim of overthrowing the legal and legitimate government. The FSA has devastated the country’s infrastructure and launched major battles that have cost the lives of nearly 60,000 Syrians, yet failed to seize power.

Lavrov: Russia’s Priority Is Achieving Comprehensive Solution in Syria Not Regime Change

SANA

MOSCOW, (SANA) – Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said that that the Geneva statement, issued by the international action group on Syria on June 30th last year, needs no clarification or interpretation as it simply provides for halting violence by all sides and nominating the negotiators to form the structure of the temporary leading body and specify its tasks.
