Dominique de Villepin-No, France is not about war

Thank you, Mr. President.
Dear Ministers, dear colleagues.

Belgium is indeed the land of surrealism. This morning we learned from the media that the Belgian army is incapable of subduing some extremist soldiers with radical Islamist beliefs embedded within its own ranks and who cannot be dismissed for lack of legal means. However, at the same time, we decide to help France in its war against “terror” by providing logistical support for its operation in Mali.

Hollande a peur de ses armées

Thierry Meyssan

27th January, 2013

Mali: One war can hide another

Thierry Meyssan

21st January, 2013

A long time in the making and announced by François Hollande six months in advance, the French intervention in Mali was portrayed as an emergency decision in response to dramatic developments. This scheme aims not only at seizing Mali’s gold and uranium, but more especially at paving the way for the destabilization of Algeria.

Appetite comes with eating“, says the proverb. After having re-colonised the Ivory Coast and Libya, then having attempted to get a hold on Syria, France is now setting its sights on Mali in order to take Algeria from behind.

Once derided, Gaddafi’s warnings about jihadists now used to justify Mali intervention

Posted by seumasach on January 21, 2013

Stephen Gowans

21st January, 2013

Always on hand when needed, cameleontic jihadists serve as enemies in Mali, friends in Syria, and air force in Libya.

In today’s New York TimesSteven Erlanger justifies the French intervention in Mali on these grounds:

• It responds to “a direct request from a legitimate government.”
• It combats “the spread of radical Islamists, some of them foreign jihadists, strongly connected to terrorist groups like Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.”

Posted by seumasach on January 18, 2013

Allain Jules

18th January, 2013
