Libya: NATO Humiliation Increasing per Airstrike

You don’t bomb a “captured” city.

Each NATO warplane that passes over Libya’s coast and releases its ordnance upon the city of Tripoli is a glaring reminder that not only have the NATO-backed rebels failed to take the city, but the fighting there is beyond their ability to face without constant air support. As each bomb tears through Tripoli’s already NATO-battered infrastructure – most recently destroying a fire station in the Abu Salim district – the world is given daily affirmations of just how duplicitous and premature NATO’s desperate claims of “victory” were, made now nearly a week ago. To add injury to insult, UK’s Foreign Secretary William Hague was imploring South Africa to release funding to NATO’s proxies in Benghazi and suggested that failing to do so would be “risking a humanitarian disaster.” Hague has not yet explained how the persistent aerial bombardment of a heavily populated city isn’t already causing a verified humanitarian disaster.

Voltairenet

24th August, 2011

Tripoli, 24 August 2011 at 9:30 p.m., Thierry Meyssan confirmed that he and Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya were among the group of journalists who were freed this afternoon from the Rixos Hotel – after several days of siege by NATO “rebel” forces – through the good offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Their evacuation to Malta by sea has been scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, at noon.

British Libya mission ‘not over’ as rebels struggle to impose order

Posted by seumasach on August 25, 2011

The silence form Tripoli is worrying and we must continue to concerned for the safety of Thierry Meyssan and Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya. In the meantime, in the absence of reliable direct reorting from Libya, we must read between the lines of mainstream media to try to discern what is happening. This article provides some clues and I post it here with my own comments.

Britain’s military operation in Libya is not over yet, the defence secretary warned this morning, amid continued attempts by rebels to impose order in the north African country.

The covert invasion of Libya

Posted by seumasach on August 25, 2011

I wrote recently that NATO had the option of retreating with its tail between its legs or mounting a full-scale invasion of Libya. That seemed logical at the time: it is still logical. What then has happened?

Libye – Bienvenue en Jamahiriya, votre… cimetière !

25th August, 2011

Do not send to ask for whom the bell tolls.

The terrifying events unfolding in Libya represent a new stage in the collapse of the empire, one which, in its stead, threatens to drag the whole of humanity down with it into oblivion. This was always the great danger. Empire and all it stands for is doomed but the question is whether a new more just and peaceful global order can replace it. Not if the the Western imperial elites have anything to do with it. They will turn the world upside down in order to avoid finding themselves where they should be: before a criminal court for their crimes the scope of which is beyond the normal imagination.

Desde Rusia informa Torr…24/08

Posted by seumasach on August 24, 2011

24th August, 2011

Pauvre Libye !
