Mid-term review of the European Environment and Health Action Plan 2004-2010

Posted by seumasach on September 4, 2008

“MEPs recommend that, in awarding individual European Union support, the Commission bear in mind its impact on the quality of indoor air, exposure to electromagnetic radiation and the health of particularly vulnerable sections of the population”

“They[MEPs] are greatly concerned at the Bio-Initiative international report on electromagnetic fields, which highlights the health risks posed by emissions from mobile-telephony devices such as mobile telephones, UMTS, Wifi, Wimax and Bluetooth, and also DECT landline telephones. It notes that the limits on exposure to electromagnetic fields which have been set for the general public are obsolete.”

Mobilfunk

In adopting an own-initiative report on the mid-term review of the European Environment and Health Action Plan 2004-2010, the European Parliament acknowledges the efforts made by the Commission since the action plan was launched in 2004. It considers, however, that such an action plan is bound to fail at least in part, since it is designed solely to accompany existing Community policies. The report was adopted with 522 votes in favour and 16 against.

Butterflies scarce after two wet summers

Posted by seumasach on August 25, 2008

“A bad summer’ is a bit of an understatement I would say: there are just no, or next to no, butterflies, bees, beetles and hardly any birds. So, finally, after several million years of evolution and surviving the biblical deluge they have succumbed to a bit of heavy rain. It’s amazing we’ve got this far really and I suppose we should, at least, be grateful for that. At risk of being bores we at ITNT continue to point out that what is really new about the last twenty years is the proliferation of RF EM radiation, fraudulently claimed to be safe in contrast to ionising radiation(see our RH column).

Britain’s butterflies are going through their worst summer for nearly half a century, a leading conservationist believes. Matthew Oates, conservation adviser to the National Trust, says the torrential downpours of summer 2007 had a knock-on effect on 2008, wiping out many eggs and caterpillars that would have become this year’s adults.

Royal Society EMF meeting September

Posted by smeddum on July 22, 2008

8th & 9th September 2008, The Royal Society, London, National Academy of science of the UK & Commonwealth RadiationResearch

The rapid growth rate of mobile phones, phone masts and wireless communication systems, alongside various reports of possible adverse effects on health, has caused increased concern around the world over the potential effect of electromagnetic pollution on health and the environment. It is clear than a new level of debate needs to take place between scientists, politicians, government regulators, the mass media and the general public in order to develop appropriate precautionary guidance. At present the technology is being increasingly used with almost no effective precautionary advice to the public and urgent guidance is needed in order to alert the public and especially our children. Clusters of Illness, Clusters of Distress – By Products of A Wireless Age and All Predicted

Posted by seumasach on June 24, 2008

“Those responsible in Government, the HPA, ICNIRP as well as the Industry will be held to account for their continuing lack of action on this issue, continuing to fail to protect citizens from the health hazards of Electro-Magnetic Fields [EMFs].”

Mast Sanity 24th June, 2008

Cancer Clusters, clusters of ill health, depression and even suicide were predicted[1] several years ago in proximity to Mobile Phone Masts and other Wireless sources of Microwave Radiation. Yet the UK Government has long ignored such warnings.

Mystery virus threatens to wipe out bees

Posted by seumasach on June 18, 2008

Marie Celeste Syndrome is not a virus; it is a condition whereby bees simply disappear from the hive without apparent reason. This would indeed be a mystery but for the well-documented fact that EM radiation, now everywhere around us, both disorientates bees, preventing them from returning to the hive, and weakens their immune system as it does for all life. But because powerful forces do not wish us to make this connection they are using all their influence to prevent this  becoming public knowledge. As a consequence, scientists are using every kind of contorted logic to make this syndrome appear compatible with traditional aflictions of bees such as, pesticides, mites, viruses etc.. To our knowledge none of these either singlely or combination causes bees to disappear from the hive: the dead bees would be found in the vicinity of the hive. Beekeepers seem to be aware of this: here, for example, is Jerry Hayes former president of the Apiary Inspectors of America:
“With affected hives, there are no dead or dying bees on the ground as we see with pesticide exposures or other diseases. No one can explain this behavior.”
Or the Canadian Honey Council website which informs us that:
“To the beekeeper, the most obvious sign of pesticide poisoning is the presence of an exceptional number of dead bees in front of the hives.”
SCOTLAND’S population of honeybees could be wiped out by a mystery virus.

Industry Rules RF Controlling Research, Setting Standards and Spinning History

If you had any doubts that the wireless industry is in total control of the RF health debate, you need only to have gone to the workshop held at the FCC’s Washington headquarters on June 28. By the end of the day, the fog would have lifted.

Can mobiles make you infertile?

Posted by seumasach on June 12, 2008

“These new technologies have been introduced without full provision of information about their nature and without prior discussion within the scientific community about its possible consequences for health.”

1st June, Kounteya Sinha, (Times of India)

NEW DELHI: In a recent pilot study done at Jawaharlal Nehru University, rats subjected to radiation from mobile phones were found to have damaged DNA and low sperm count, leading to infertility and reduction in testis size. The Union health ministry now wants to find out whether excessive cellphone use could be having the same adverse effects on your health. Read the rest of this entry »

ICEMS Releases Venice Resolution On EMF Safety

Posted by seumasach on June 7, 2008

“As an outcome, we are compelled to confirm the existence of non-thermal effects of electromagnetic fields on living matter, which seem to occur at every level of investigation from molecular to epidemiological.”

Initiated by the International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety,
following the 6th ICEMS Workshop, December 17, 2007.

EMFACTS

As stated in the Benevento Resolution of September 2006[1], we remain concerned about the effects of human exposure to electromagnetic fields on health. At the 6th ICEMS Workshop, entitled, “Foundations of bioelectromagnetics: towards a new rationale for risk assessment and management,” we discussed electro-hypersensitivity, blood brain barrier changes, learning and behavioral effects, changes in anti-oxidant enzyme activities, DNA damage, biochemical mechanisms of interaction, biological damage and, experimental approaches to validate these effects. As an outcome, we are compelled to confirm the existence of non-thermal effects of electromagnetic fields on living matter, which seem to occur at every level of investigation from molecular to epidemiological. Insect Exhibition at Brenthurst

Posted by seumasach on May 19, 2008

Scientists in South Africa have established that “electromagnetic factors were significant in the decline of insect populations”. This is not strictly a surprise since EM has been used for some time to kill off insects, but it is significant that some scientists have had sufficient independence from the lobby to actually state this.

If you see ants simply as nuisance insects that invade your sandwiches on picnics, while bees hover over your Coke can, stop a moment and reconsider.

The South African Invertebrate Art Exhibition at Little Brenthurst is hoping to get everyone to think again about insects. The exhibition is an effort to draw attention to the decreasing numbers of insects, the earth’s barometer of how the environment is faring. Read the rest of this entry »
