A Change Has Got To Come-EM Radiation and Health

I recently read Blue Windows by Barbara Wilson. Barbara was raised as a
Christian Scientist. Christian Scientists are admonished to look out of only
rose-colored windows because evil and sickness do not exist. Everything is
perfection. Her mother ended up getting breast cancer and completely lost it, as
this did not fit her belief system. The poor woman drank Drano in her effort to
kill herself. She never regained her sanity through her years of treatment for
the damage done by the Drano and the breast cancer and eventually died from it.
Barbara’s grandmother was a Christian Scientist practitioner who spent her days
performing remote healing. To her dying day she never told her community about
what happened to her daughter. Again it did not fit her belief system.

UNESCO Seminar: “Electromagnetic Fields: Mechanisms Of Action And Potential Threat As A Terrorism Agent”

Posted by seumasach on December 7, 2008

“However EMF also pose direct threats to human health through mechanisms that are poorly understood.”

So there you are then: in certain milieu, where the terrorists in question aren’t O2 or Vodaphone, it’s not even a question for debate.
November 2008

There is more and more use of electricity and RF communication frequencies in both civilian life and for military purposes. The clarification of cellular and molecular mechanisms of their biological effects is extremely important in order to rationally evaluate their harmful effects from the point of public health. Science magazine concedes cell phone radiation damage to DNA

Posted by seumasach on November 30, 2008

Microwave News

November 27… Science has conceded the error: More than one lab has in fact shown that cell phone radiation can cause DNA breaks. Back in August, reporter Gretchen Vogel claimed that Hugo Rüdiger at the University of Vienna medical school was the only one (seeSeptember 3, below). Now, Vogel allows that a team from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, had previouslyobserved DNA breaks in cells exposed to GSM radiation.

In a letter published in the magazine’s November 28 issue, Vini Khurana, a neurosurgeon in Canberra, Australia, advises that, “[T]here are many other peer-reviewed papers from laboratories in at least seven countries, including the United States, showing that cell phone or similar low-intensity EMFs can break DNA or modulate it structurally.” (Others have submitted similar complaints to the magazine’s editors.) In her response, Vogel writes, “My intention was not to imply that there were only two papers showing any effects of EMFs. There are many publications that show effects of EMFs on DNA, but the citations listed [by Khurana] do not directly contradict the quoted sentence.” That sentence which leads her August 29 article begins: “The only two peer-reviewed scientific papers showing that [EMFs] from cell phones can cause DNA breakage…” In an exchange with Microwave News, Vogel drew a sharp distinction between DNA “damage” and “breakage,” which, she said, allowed her to exclude many other papers, particularly one by John Aitken.

Khurana made international headlines earlier this year when he predicted that cell phone radiation would turn out to be a worse public-health disaster than either smoking or asbestos (see our April 10 post).

Caroline Lucas- Correspondence about Mobile Phones and Electromagentic Fields

Posted by seumasach on November 29, 2008

Caroline Lucas MEP

Caroline has objected to a vast number of mobile phone mast applications – too many to list here. You can however, read her correspondence with the European Commission and the UK and other authorities.

She has called consistently for a moratorium on mast installations and the rolling out of new technology until there is sufficient independent evidence to guarantee their safety. This approach, in keeping with the precautionary principle, is in marked contrast to the position adopted by industry and government,  which assumes they are safe until proven otherwise. In recent years, Caroline’s focus has been to secure funding for research at EU level.

An RTE power line of very high voltage is declared to be the cause of disease in a herd of cattle.

TULLE  (Agence France Presse) – In ordering the management of the French company RTE (responsible for the distribution of electricity) to pay almost 400,000 euros to cattle farmers, the courts have established for the first time that there is a link between the effects of electromagnetic radiation from a very high voltage power line and symptoms of disease among animals.

Petition against Wi-Fi

Posted by seumasach on November 20, 2008

Here is an excellent website for more on wi-fi effects;

http://wifiinschools.org.uk/6.html

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to introduce legislation to require all UK schools to remove Wi-Fi installations and replace them with wired alternatives

More details from petition creator

Wi-Fi is an untested and under-regulated technology. Sir William Stewart called for government and regulators to apply the precautionary principle and to review the use of Wi-Fi in schools. The German government is advising its citizens to limit their exposure to Wi-Fi. It is time to stop putting corporate profit over the health of UK citizens – especially the youngest who are most likely to feel the adverse effects of Wi-Fi and are least able to defend themselves.

1. A Very Serious Warning 36 Years Ago
“The electromagnetic radiations emanating for radar, television, communications systems,
microwave ovens, industrial heat-treatment systems, medical diathermy units, and many other
sources permeate the modern environment, both civilian and military.”
“Unless adequate monitoring and control based on a fundamental understanding of biological
effects are instituted in the near future, in the decades ahead, man may enter an era of energy
pollution of the environment comparable to the chemical pollution of today.”
“The consequences of undervaluing or misjudging the biological effects of long-term, lowlevel
exposure could become a critical problem for the public health, especially if genetic
effects are involved.”
These quotations are excerpts from the US government report “Program for Control of
Electromagnetic Pollution of the Environment”, which was published in December 1971. The
government report was drafted starting in December 1968 by an expert group made up of nine
people, “The Electromagnetic Radiation Management Advisory Council”. “The President’s
Office of Telecommunications Policy” issued the order. This report was an urgent warning for
the future.

Wifi and electromagnetic fields

30th October, 2008

We are constantly being misled by elements of the mobile phone and
electronics industries (who have huge vested interests in the
infrastructure) into believing that the pulsed microwaves used in cell
phones and Wifi are harmless. Their sole justification for this is that
the radiation is too weak to generate significant heat when they are
absorbed by living tissues.
