Israel has criticized the Egyptian government’s mediation and the signing of a unity deal between the Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah.

Egyptian protesters have planned another million-man march next Friday, naming the rally as the “Day to Purge the Remnants of Mubarak Regime from Egypt.”
Former vice-chairman of Egypt’s Court of Cassation, Mahmoud El Khodeiry on Tuesday called on all Egyptians, including Muslims and Christians, to take part in the upcoming protest on Friday in Cairo’s Libration Square, Egyptian newspaper Al-Youm Al-Sabe reported.

A call for “million-man” marches in support of the Palestinians has been made by Egypt’s Coalition of the Youth of the Revolution. The first march, to be held in Alexandria on 13 May, will also demand the opening of the Egypt-Gaza border for food, medical and humanitarian aid; marchers will head for the Israeli Consulate in the city.

The results of the poll, which was conducted by the United States-based Pew Research Center, came out on Monday, pointing to a 54% lean towards the scrapping of the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty, the Associated Press reported. The poll surveyed 1,000 Egyptians countrywide between March 24 and April 7.
