TEHRAN (IRNA) — Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexander Sadovnikov said on Saturday that Moscow has never sought any new resolution against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Talking to IRNA, he expressed the hope that Iran’s all-out cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency would help find a logical and realistic solution to the issue.
On the Caspian Sea issues, the ambassador said Iran and Russia share identical views regarding the affairs related to the Caucasus region, including those of the Caspian Sea. Read the rest of this entry »

The bravery and fervor Cuban Revolutionaries have displayed since time immemorial, from Jose Marti (whom Fidel Castro affectionately refers to as the Apostle of the revolution) and General Antonio Maceo to Che Guevara and Vilma Espin, have always been an inspiration to those who truly love freedom and justice. This passion for world peace stems from the revolutionary values which are at the core of Cuban society. Often times, the world has seen how willing Cubans are to give their lives and resources in pursuit of freedom and justice-such as they did at the US led Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961,and in Angola, Mozambique and Guinee Bissau. A more current example of this courage are the 5 Cuban patriots, who are illegally imprisoned in US jails, because they decided to risk their lives to prevent further acts of naked aggression and terrorism against their beloved homeland, by the counter revolutionary Cuban forces in Miami who are openly aligned with the Bush administration. It is quite interesting that despite this rich history of sacrifice, Commandante Fidel Castro has humbly indicated on many occasions that the greatest army ever assembled in Cuba, is that of the medical brigades. This article seems to confirm how advantageous the Georgia debacle has been to the McCain camp. In one fell swoop the Republicans have stolen the Democrat agenda, torpedoed it and left the wrong-footed Obama camp looking whimpish as McCain beats the war drums. US foreign policy may be in total disarray but all that matters to the Republicans is to hold power come by hook or by crook. A 5% lead in the polls plus a bit of electoral high-jinks should be enough to see them through.

If Barack Obama somehow loses the presidential race, he might partially blame Vlad “the Assailer” Putin. Since Russia invaded Georgia, the world’s attention has been focused on NATO’s response to the brutality. On balance, the response has been tepid, to say the least. President Bush says Russia better get out.
Or what?
Obama is calling for “restraint by both sides.” Swell. Asking Vladimir Putin to restrain his violent tactics is like asking al-Qaida to celebrate Christmas — not gonna happen.

TBILISI. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Georgia will become a NATO member
eventually and the country is on a path to being included in the
Membership Action Plan (MAP), a program to help nations seeking to join
the North Atlantic alliance, a senior NATO envoy confirmed on Friday.
Robert Simmons, NATO special representative for the Caucasus and
Central Asia, who made the announcement at a briefing in Tbilisi, did
not say when MAP would be extended to Georgia.
