Yulia Tymoshenko seems the epitomy of the pro-American asset , and virulently anti-Russian; yet here she is being accused of siding with the Russians and refusing to condemn their military action in Georgia. The new zeitgeist is pragmatic rather than ideological: events seem to be leading and people just following and the events are leading us to the collapse of Anglo-Saxon leadership in the world and, perhaps, also the end of a much longer historical period, dating from the death of Demosthenes and the collapse of Athenian democracy, in which empire and oligarchy and their corresponding philosophical outlook have, generally, held sway.

Unfortunately for Obama, much more useful to McCain. Obama, remember, is the “peace candidate” and beating war drums will not strengthen his base. In addition his Brzezinski inspired anti-Russian programme is of the covert, Soros type. That agenda is now in shreds and McCain is leading the New Cold War.

The United States presidential candidates increasingly present Russia as a threat in their campaigns. Republican Senator John McCain is clearly thriving on the recent Georgia-Russia war. Escalation in the Caucasus has been lobbied by McCain since at least 2003, and he is now exploiting the conflict to his full advantage.

EU split over Russia

The Foreign Ministry says it regrets the EU’s decision to suspend talks on a new partnership agreement with Russia. Moscow says the new deal is just as important to Europe as it is to Russia. The bloc has been split over its response to the conflict in South Ossetia. At Monday’s emergency summit in Brussels, EU leaders decided to halt talks on a new deal with Russia. The move was in response to Moscow’s role in the conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia. But according to some members of the European parliament, the summit showed that the union is anything but united.

Little Britain in Recession

Even the Sun Newspaper, which can be fairly described as a jingoistic rag for the hard of thinking, is starting to whimper. Although nowhere near conveying what lies in store to their loyal readership, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for Britain’s biggest selling daily to deny reality.However this is probably about as far as the their Media will go. Declaring that Britain is in terminal decline, financially, intellectually and morally bankrupt, is not something they are likely to do anytime soon.
