The disappearance of wild bees isn’t particularly suggestive of a pesticide connection. Nor is this “let’s have more research to show why it’s pesticides” a particularly scientific approach. It’s a disappointing one from the Moray beekeepers who are perfectly aware of the EM radiation hypothesis as this article by beekeeper, Marion Lang, shows. I would have thought political correctness a scant compensation for the disaster we’ve got coming to us and that the failure of the experts to produce a coherent explanation for CCD was a good reason to consider all possibilities.

There are governments who tend to unify public opinion. A perfect example would be the government of Miguel de la Madrid, which became paralyzed after the earthquake of September 19, 1985. Madrid didn’t know what to do and left rescuing the victims and restoring of Mexico City in the hands of ordinary citizens and the Virgin de Guadalupe.

 

To this day, popular opinion condemns the former president for his absence and his apparent lack of interest in the fate those he governed.

 

The tragedy that now confronts the government of Felipe Calderón also fulfills these criteria, except for the newspapers, where there is recognition of the extreme measures that have been taken to address the swine flu.

 

But in the streets, the perception is a different one. Many connect the surprising emergence of the plague with the approaching elections on July 5, while others charge that the virus is a way of diverting the attention of Mexicans from the grave economic crisis, rising unemployment and the unchecked rise of assassinations in the streets of the country’s major cities. A minority simply ask who is being enriched as a result of the epidemic.

 

The answer to that is simple, although it may be terribly misleading: The patent for Tamiflu, the medicine recommended by the World Health Organization, is owned by Gilead Sciences, one of the properties of Donald Rumsfeld, [former] Secretary of Defense of the United States. The manufacture and sale of the drug are carried out by Roche Laboratories, who, thanks to the tragedy, have risen in the ranks at the Zurich Stock Exchange by 3.5 percent. The following piece written by Michael Moore appears in this week’s Time magazine (and in full at Time.com) as part of their annual “Time 100” issue highlighting their choices for “The World’s Most Influential People.”

Elie Wiesel called him a “God.” His investors called him a “genius.” But, proving correct that old adage from the country and western song, you never really know what goes on behind closed doors.

Bernie Madoff, for at least 20 years, ran a Ponzi scheme on thousands of clients, among them the people you and I would consider the best and brightest. Business leaders, celebrities, charities, even some of his own relatives and his defense attorney were taken for a ride (this has to be the first time a lawyer was hosed by the client).

China fears bond crisis as it slams quantitative easing
China has given its clearest warning to date that emergency monetary stimulus by Western governments risks setting off worldwide inflation and undermining global bond markets.

“A policy mistake made by some major central bank may bring inflation risks to the whole world,” said the People’s Central Bank in its quarterly report.
“As more and more economies are adopting unconventional monetary policies, such as quantitative easing (QE), major currencies’ devaluation risks may rise,” it said. The bank fears a “big consolidation” in the bond markets, clearly anxious that interest yields will surge as western states try to exit their QE experiment.

Simon Derrick, currency chief at the Bank of New York Mellon, said the report is the latest sign that China is losing patience with the US and aims to diversify part its $1.95 trillion (£1.3 trillion) foreign reserves away from US Treasuries and other dollar securities.
