EU battle over move to ease arms flow for Syrian rebels

Posted by seumasach on February 16, 2013

Hague’s “never say die” approach is increasingly out of line with international opinion which understands that the Syrian rebels are losing and haas no illusions about a “moderate opposition”. Anyway here another reason for us to oppose Europe: they are inhibiting our sponsorship of international terrorism!

Telegraph

15th February, 2013

British and French attempts to lift the EU arms embargo that is hampering the flow of weapons to Syrian rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad are being blocked by powerful states including Germany.

ALEPPO, (SANA) – People of the neighborhoods of al-Iza’a and Saif al- Dawla organized mass marches to express loyalty to homeland against the external aggression and in condemnation of the acts of the armed terrorist groups.

They stressed their belief in the ability of the Syrian Arab Army to restore security and stability and eradicate terrorism from all provinces.

The participants, roaming several streets in the area, hailed the Syrian army and condemned the crimes committed by the terrorists and the sides supporting them, particularly the Turkish government.

They highlighted that the people of Aleppo will stand firm in the face of the terrorists’ attempts to force them to leave their city, adding that the crimes will not dissuade them from their national stances.

The participants underlined that this march is a clear message to all misleading media outlets that the Syrian people are committed to their national unity and standing by their army.

They said that the people of Aleppo are stronger than the terrorists’ crimes, affirming that Syria will remain firm because of the strength of its army and the wisdom of its leadership.

Mervyn King warns George Osborne

Posted by seumasach on February 13, 2013

“You can not go on indefinitely. It’s as if you are running up an ever steeper hill.”

Exactly, Britain is hopelessly bankrupt. This analysis makes things look good: it hugely underestimates inflation and hugely overestimates our capacity to benefit from a falling pound to boost exports.
