The bombing of the Boston marathon has appeared to whet the appetites of some members of Congress to increase cooperation with post-Soviet governments in taking a strong hand against the threat of Islamist radicals. The House Committee on Foreign Affairs held ahearing on Friday, “Islamist Extremism in Chechnya: A Threat to the U.S. Homeland?” And it provided the opportunity for several members of Congress to tout not just greater security cooperation with Russia vis-a-vis Chechnya, but across the post-Soviet space.

Entre illusions et réalités du terrain
Pierre Khalaf
22nd April, 2013

NATO’s War on Libya and Africa by Maximilian Fort
Dan Glazebrook
22nd April, 2013
The media has gone very quiet on Libya of late; clearly, liberal imperialists don’t like to dwell on their crimes. This is not surprising. The modus operandi of the humanitarian imperialist is not one of informed reflection, but only permanent outrage against leaders of the global South; besides, in the topsy-turvy world of liberal interventionism, the ‘failure to act’ is the only crime of which the West is capable. As Forte puts it, their moral code holds that “If we do not act, we should be held responsible for the actions of others. When we do act, we should never be held responsible for our own actions.”
