Arms deliveries to ’Syrian rebels’ equally liable for crimes committed

Voltairenet

22nd June, 2013

The delivery of weapons to Syrian rebels is in breach of UN resolutions. This enables the victims’ families to sue individually before the International Criminal Tribunal those leaders who should decide to do so, and allows Syria to file a suit against their states with the International Court of Justice.

Iranian minister bashes Doha conference

Posted by seumasach on June 24, 2013

[The sentiments expressed by the Iranian leadership are also those of the vast majority in the UK. The empire is coming to an end in a comprehensive propaganda defeat. One only to read the comments section of the Guardian newspaper, a cheerleader for the Syrian rebels, to see this overwhelming reality- even the trolls no longer dare come out to play. You know you’re in a entirely new reality when Cameron’s main leadership rival, Boris Johnson, takes his cues from Vladimir Putin. News, if true, that Turkey has cut off supply routes to “the rebels” means their defeat is imminent and in its wake peace talks, between the West and the Assad government, those overthrow they have long sought, without pre-conditions.]

The very ugly truth about RBS

James Ferguson

Money Week

19th June, 2013

I wanted to talk to you today about a topic that is on everyone’s lips at the moment: the re-privatisation of RBS. Because I think there is a disturbing story here that is not being widely reported in the mainstream press. And it goes right to the heart of the economic problems that Britain will face over the next few years. It certainly affects your investments.

Bond market collapse imminent?

Posted by seumasach on June 23, 2013

[The alternative to rising interest rates is more money printing culminating in dollar collapse. As it is China may continue to support bond markets as part of deepening US-China partnership: China will help rebuild US economy, US will abandon hegemonic pretensions and call off its attack dogs enabling demilitarization, the peace dividend. Possibly a revalued dollar could be incorporated into new global monetary system.]

“If The Yield Goes Significantly Higher The Market Is Going To Freak Out”

Economic Collapse

If yields on U.S. Treasury bonds keep rising, things are going to get very messy.  As I write this, the yield on 10 year U.S. Treasures has risen to 2.51 percent.  If that keeps going up, it is going to be like a mile wide lawnmower blade devastating everything in its path.

Posted by seumasach on June 21, 2013

“During her meetings, Patterson, according to Egyptian and Western sources, has been stressing three points: Washington does not wish to see Egypt go through either a military coup or a forced interruption of the democratically-elected president’s term; that it is not too late for the elected president and the opposition to work out a compromise deal; that there is considerable room for improvement in Morsi’s management of the nation’s affairs, especially the economy; and that there is also a need for the opposition to forge a united front and vision for Egypt’s future.”

Federal Reserve signals end to QE

Posted by seumasach on June 21, 2013

QE is unsustainable. As Michael Hudson said, it is a declaration of war against the rest of the world bringing inflation and instability almost everywhere. Its end heralds the crash, the writing off of the totally bankrupt financial sector and the beginning of reconstruction within a global, multipolar framework.

Assad might be Syria’s best option

Posted by seumasach on June 21, 2013

“Assad’s government is now the only armed force in the country still committed to preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and to its continuance as an independent nation state.”

“By upholding Syria’s rights as a nation-state, China and Russia are, contrary to most Western commentary, making the most useful contribution to the preservation of both the regional and the global peace.”

The Assad should stay viewpoint is gaining momentum in the English language press- a welcome recognition of reality.

Chris Trotter

Dominion Post

Until its actions triggered World War I, hardly anyone in New Zealand gave a damn about Serbia. Until very recently, the same was true of Syria. Even now, with images of Syria’s gruesome civil war nightly smearing the world’s television screens, I find myself reacting to the rapidly rising body count with a mixture of pity and frustration. As the angry, anguished faces of the slayers and their victims flash before me, I demand to know what could possibly be worth so much suffering? Freedom? Democracy?
