Loonie support grows in Iceland as 70% back adopting Canadian currency

Posted by seumasach on March 13, 2012

As Cameron and Obama lick their wounds over the failure of the anti-Euro project they will be eager to consolidate an Atlantic zone including Iceland. Iceland faces a choice between Europe and the Anglosphere.

Financial Post

12th March, 2012

Iceland appears to be increasingly open to adopting the Canadian dollar as its official currency, with Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir warning over the weekend that the country’s own extremely volatile currency system “can’t remain unchanged.”

“The choice is between surrendering the sovereignty of Iceland in monetary policy by unilaterally adopting the currency of another country, or become a member of the EU,” Ms. Sigurdardottir said in a speech delivered at a Social Democrat Alliance party convention Saturday in Reykjavik.

Last month, a Capacent Gallup poll found 26.3% of Icelandic voters support European Union membership while 56.2% were opposed to the idea.

That leaves the door open to other currencies.

Black Agenda Report

Call a Georgetown law student a slut, and the liberal universe goes into supernova. Destroy Somalia and Libya, or obliterate due process of law, and the same people just yawn. Attorney General Eric Holder “asserts that the president can in fact decide to kill anyone he wants, as long as he claims that person is a terrorist.” Liberals love the guy.

Western Hypocrisy and the Russian Election. We preach “democracy” and practice oligarchy

Justin Raimondo

7th March, 2012

Vladimir Putin wasn’t the only one with tears in his eyes as he exulted in his presidential election victory and shouted “Glory to Russia!” The entire American punditocracy, to say nothing of the Brits, responded as one with accusations the election had been fixed, confidently predicting a “crackdown” on “dissent” as the Russian leader resumed the office he had never really left.

Asia Times

Forget the past (Saddam, Osama, Gaddafi) and the present (Assad, Ahmadinejad). A bet can be made over a bottle of Petrus 1989 (the problem is waiting the next six years to collect); for the foreseeable future, Washington’s top bogeyman – and also for its rogue North Atlantic Treaty Organization partners and assorted media shills – will be none other than back-to-the-future Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Revealed: government plans for police privatisation

Posted by seumasach on March 3, 2012

The rise of the private security man is a key element in the transition to corporate feudalism, the true aim of the Thatcher revolution. It is further confirmation that the marxist theory of the state is false- far from merely being a vehicle to promote elite interests, it is a barrier which they are determined to destroy. We are witnessing the dismantling of the legal and constitutional framework of the British state.

Guardian

2nd March, 2012

Private companies could take responsibility for investigating crimes, patrolling neighbourhoods and even detaining suspects under a radical privatisation plan being put forward by two of the largest police forces in the country.

US media rigged ahead of Russian elections

Poor Richard’s Blog

1st March, 2012

In the spirit of recognizing mobs of terrorists as legitimate national governments before a sovereign nation’s true leadership is murdered by US-led NATO operations, as was the case in Libya, the Western media is already decrying Russia’s upcoming elections as “rigged” before they’ve even taken place. Leading the preemptive media coverage is Foreign Policy (FP) magazine featuring an article by Freedom House president David Kramer and Freedom House vice president, Christopher Walker.
