Ya en Cuzco con empeño
quieren sacudir, y es ley,
el yugo de ajeno rey
y reponer al que es dueño
¡Levantarse americanos!

Posted by seumasach on June 14, 2008

Interview with Franklin Lamb(ICH)

By Mike Whitney

Question:  Between May 7 to May 10, Hezbollah took over Beirut, shut down the city’s TV and communications facilities, blocked the main highways, closed the airport, and surrounded the homes of the leading political leaders with armed gunman. The action was taken in response to Prime Minister Fouad Siniora’s decision to outlaw Hezbollah’s telecommunication network and sack the head of security at Beirut airport. Although the incident has been downplayed in the western media, it appears that Hezbollah achieved a total victory and is now recognized as the strongest group operating within Lebanon. What affect will Hezbollah’s victory have on the political dynamic within Lebanon? Read the rest of this entry »

Voltaire Network

19th June, 2008

Repression against the Voltaire Network keeps on. Jürgen Cain Külbel has been jailed in Berlin. The weak legal pretexts used to condemn him cannot hide the political motive behind this decision: our contributor had shown that the Commissioner of the UN International Independent Investigation Commission into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri had financial binds with the perpetrators, and that his main aide is a CIA agent involved in the ongoing wave of kidnappings in Europe. Interview with Thierry Meyssan about the Electoral Process in the United States(VOLTAIRENET)

by Sandro Cruz

Every four years, the election of the President of the United States takes a big media show that keeps the world in tenterhooks. The US electoral system, which is extremely complex and controlled by the oligarchy, offers a popular sovereignty image, despite the fact that it was created to counter such sovereignty. Posted by seumasach on May 28, 2008

Here we see the pattern familiar to us from the 9/11 attacks; the crime scene was immediately destroyed and crucial evidence lost.

History in the making for Hezbollah

Posted by seumasach on May 23, 2008

By Sami Moubayed (ASIA TIMES)

DAMASCUS – British statesman Sir Winston Churchill once said, “History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.” On another occasion, he said, “Although prepared for martyrdom, I preferred that it be postponed.”

These two quotes came to my mind, as I imagined Hasan Nasrallah, the secretary general of Hezbollah, seated somewhere in Beirut, watching his allies and opponents hammer out a deal in Doha – to his favor – on Wednesday.  Read the rest of this entry »
