“The U.S. side is ready to develop relations with China based on the principle of no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, said Tillerson.”

As Trump seeks to actively undermine the Atlantic Alliance with both the UK and the EU, he appears set for a closer engagement with China. This approach closely corresponds to US national interests since only through partnership with China can the US rebuild it’s infrastructure and industrial base.

Beijing, US should consider joint counter-terror operations

China recently confirmed it was participating in “joint counterterrorism operations” inside Afghanistan. The size of Beijing’s force is still unclear but reports began surfacing last November that it was patrolling in northeastern Afghanistan’s Little Pamir region.

Deutsche Bank sees end to pound’s reserve status

Mr Winkler has cited data from the IMF which shows that the sterling share of global reserves has fallen slightly in the two quarters to September.

He also says the Chinese central bank is moving out of sterling more rapidly than it moves out of other currencies, as it sells down its massive hoard of reserves in order to stop the value of the renminbi from falling too fast.

The split is on party lines and the clincher came on Monday when Republican senator Marco Polo (who regarded Russian President Vladimir Putin to be a ‘war criminal’ and vainly insisted that Tillerson agreed with him) fell in line at the eleventh hour.

Jan. 16, 2017 (EIRNS)—In a speech to the Asia Financial Forum in Hong Kong today, China Investment Corporation chairman Ding Xuedong said that CIC wants to change its holdings of U.S. Treasury debt, into an investment in building of new infrastructure in the United States.
