EU calls for Ukraine elections, shies away from sanctions

Posted by seumasach on February 11, 2014

Rather than rabble-rousing in Ukraine and throwing in their lot with the CIA and US lobby representatives the EU should concentrate on overcoming its own, notorious, democratic deficit.

Voice of America

10th February, 2014

The European Union has called for the formation of a new government in Ukraine, to be followed by free and fair presidential elections. But it stopped short Monday of calling for sanctions. Anti-government protests erupted in November after President Viktor Yanukovych backed out of signing a trade deal with the European Union.

French minister hits back at US on Iran business ties

Posted by seumasach on February 6, 2014

Follow the money! There is now an unstoppable momentum behind Iran’s reintegration into the “international community”. Amidst reports of an official Iranian presence at the next round of Geneva talks, Kerry is careful not to appear to eager to embrace America and Israel’s long term bogeyman and continues to talk with forked tongue.

Indian Punchline

2nd February, 2014

The year is 1979. The streets of Tehran heaved with the passions let loose by the revolutionary fervor. Imam Khomeini had just arrived from Paris a few days ago and the ten-day run-up began leading to the momentous turning point on February 11 when the armed forces switched loyalty from the Shah to the revolutionaries. By tradition, February 1 is the day Iran celebrates the return of Imam Khomeini from exile and this year is the thirty-fifth anniversary of the revolution. There is much symbolism that the first tranche of the frozen assets of Iran amounting to $4.2 billion was deposited in the Swiss banks on last Friday the eve of ‘Ten-Day Dawn’ ceremonies of the Iranian Revolution.

Voltairenet

27th January, 2013

The question of the Syrian opposition’s representation at the Geneva 2 Conference may seem incongruous now that the inaugural meeting in Montreux is already behind us. On the contrary, it remains the central issue. The National Coalition, who spoke before the cameras, has been abandoned by almost all its components and has lost its antennas in Syria.
