The year is 1979. The streets of Tehran heaved with the passions let loose by the revolutionary fervor. Imam Khomeini had just arrived from Paris a few days ago and the ten-day run-up began leading to the momentous turning point on February 11 when the armed forces switched loyalty from the Shah to the revolutionaries. By tradition, February 1 is the day Iran celebrates the return of Imam Khomeini from exile and this year is the thirty-fifth anniversary of the revolution. There is much symbolism that the first tranche of the frozen assets of Iran amounting to $4.2 billion was deposited in the Swiss banks on last Friday the eve of ‘Ten-Day Dawn’ ceremonies of the Iranian Revolution.
