The Libyan government apparently wants to share its successful experience of overthrowing the Gaddafi regime with like-minded Syrians. It has sent 600 of its troops to support local militants against the Assad regime, according to media reports.

An officially-declared information war is currently being waged against Syria. An overwhelming majority of European television stations are portraying the events in Damascus as the cruel oppression of peaceful demonstrators by the Syrian army. In all reports, the key words have been “civilian deaths”, for which the West blames the Syrian authorities. The Arab League, having forgotten all principles of Arab solidarity, is ready to impose sanctions on Damascus. They are demonstrative in nature and do not seriously undermine the financial interests of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. But with its actions, the Arab League has clearly shown that it stands on the side of the opposition.

ISLAMABAD: Furious over the pre-dawn Nato attacks on border posts, the government on Saturday reacted sharply by indefinitely closing down supply routes used by western forces in Afghanistan and once again asking the United States to vacate an airbase previously used for drone operations. The government also said it would carry out a thorough review of its cooperation with the US and Nato.

According to Milliyet, as cited by IRNA, France has sent its military training forces to Turkey and Lebanon to coach the so-called Free Syrian Army — a group of defectors operating out of Turkey and Lebanon — in an effort to wage war against Syria’s military.

According to officials familiar with the situation, a meeting between Libya’s new regime, the NATO-backed National Transitional Council (NTC) and members of the Syrian National Council (SNC) ended with a request for the NTC to send arms to the opposition, and potentially to get involved even more.
