Over the last 24-hours there’s been a renewed media storm over Syria – prompted by a horrific story of atrocities in the town of Houla. Very gruesome images of dead children have been offered to the media, which has lapped them up and used them again and again on our screens and in our newspapers.

“We should hold all the responsible ones accountable and have them face justice even if it has connection to some permanent members at the UN Security Council,” he added. “Those who are very interested in halting violence and making the comprehensive national dialogue in Syria a success should stop interfering in our internal affairs and should stop arming , hosting, funding and protecting the armed terrorist groups in my country,” said al-Jaafari, adding that “No one can ignite fire and be the firefighter at the same time and, unfortunately, this is the case for many UNSC member states.”

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that al-Houla massacre as a horrible, unjustified and unjustifiable crime which the Syrian government has firmly condemned.

Before UN monitors even arrived in Houla, Syria, northwest of Homs and close to the Lebanese border where it is now admitted that militant extremists, cash, and weapons had been freely flowing for months, the US, UK, and France were already calling for the “international community” to move against the Syrian government, in the latest effort to justify further meddling in the Middle Eastern nation.

The strategy was simple, clear, tried and tested. It had been used successfully not only against Libya, but also Kosovo (in 1999), and was rapidly underway in Syria. It was to run as follows: train proxies to launch armed provocations; label the state’s response to these provocations as genocide; intimidate the UN Security Council into agreeing that “something must be done”; incinerate the army and any other resistance with fragmentation bombs and Hellfire missiles; and finally install a weak, compliant government to sign off new contracts and alliances drawn up in London, Paris and Washington, whilst the country tore itself apart.

The West seeks to follow its imperialist policy inside Syria through military intervention, an American author and historian tells Press TV.
Webster Griffin Tarpley says the Western powers would like to follow their imperialist policy “using the people NATO has on the ground (in Syria) at the moment.”

Le 25e sommet de l’OTAN n’est pas parvenu à répondre à la question lancinante qui hante l’Organisation depuis l’effondrement de l’URSS : en quoi peut-elle être utile à ses membres, hormis au Royaume-Uni et aux USA ? Toute question sur le massacre de 160 000 Libyens ou sur l’annulation de l’attaque de la Syrie étant écartée, les chefs d’États et de gouvernement ont simplement été sommés de financer le complexe militaro-industriel US.

TRIPOLI – Un mouvement de résistance mais pacifique est né. Il s’agit du Mouvement populaire national libyen ( en arabe : الحركة الوطنية الشعبية الليبية et en abrégé MPNL). C’est un mouvement politique créé par d’anciens patriotes de la Grande Jamahiriya arabe libyenne et socialiste. Son secrétaire général est le major-général Al-Hamidi Khuwaildi , un ancien membre du Conseil de commandement révolutionnaire libyen .

Abdel Basset al-Megrahi died on 20 May 2012 of cancer at the age of 60. He was the only person convicted of the bombing of PanAm flight 103, which exploded over Lockerbie on 21 December 1988, killing 270 people.

On May 20th, world leaders will meet at the NATO Summit in Chicago, where the future of hundreds of US nuclear weapons deployed in Europe is on the agenda. Let’s tell them it’s time to get these weapons out of Europe, sign the petition below!
The Cold War has been over for more than 20 years. Keeping US nuclear weapons in Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy makes no sense. These weapons are relics of a bygone age: they are dangerous, useless and expensive and do not address today’s actual security threats. We urge you to remove these weapons from Europe. You have a historic opportunity to take the next critical step toward a world without nuclear weapons.
