Sudan/Darfur is Test Case for Obama’s “Humanitarian” Aggression

Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir had no choice but to expel the western “aid” organizations that had merged with the American propaganda machine aimed at regime change in Khartoum. Obama operatives like UN Ambassador Susan Rice have for years been “eager to blockade Sudan’s ports” and to launch “selective” bombing raids against Sudan. When imperial doctrine claims the right to intervene whenever disasters overtake sovereign countries – and proceeds to create and exacerbate those disasters – then no government is safe against regime change. President Obama “appears to be fine-tuning a ‘humanitarian’ interventionist doctrine that is applicable to any point on the planet.”

Obama, allies aren’t on same page as G20 opens

Posted by seumasach on April 1, 2009

“In an interview with London’s Financial Times published Friday, German leader Angela Merkel hadn’t backed off from her emphasis on regulation instead of spending.

“The crisis did not take place because we were spending too little but because we were spending too much to create growth that was not sustainable. It isn’t just that the banks took over too many risks. Governments allowed them to do so by neglecting to set the necessary (financial market) rules and, for instance in the U.S., by increasing the money supply too much,” she said.

The United States and England , however, are unlikely to support hasty moves to new regulation.”

“Self-interest wins in the end always, and the United States and the U.K. get more out of financial services than anyone else. We have the two world financial capitals. It’s not in our interest to have other people write the regulations or have regulations that try to average across many nations,” said Vincent Reinhart , a former top economist at the Federal Reserve.

Likewise, he cautioned, big nations such as China and Russia , and the smaller but important European powers, see it in their interest to impose new rules on London and New York .

Obama’s War Has the “peace movement” become part of the war machine?

PR Watch’s John Stauber took on the Obama administration and the “antiwar” movement in a recent series of posts on his blog. I’ve compiled them here:

Afghan Escalation OK with MoveOn, Anti-War Insiders

Washington Post blogger Greg Sargent noted last week that “President Obama’s announcement of an escalation in the American presence in Afghanistan is being met with mostly silence – and even some support – from the most influential liberal groups who opposed the Iraq War. … MoveOn.org … declined to make any public statement about Obama’s Afghan policies in response to my queries. An official close to the group confirmed to me that MoveOn wouldn’t be saying anything in the near term. … Nor will we hear anything from Americans United for Change, which ran $600,000 worth of TV ads against the Iraq War in the summer of 2007. ‘Americans United for Change doesn’t plan to comment on President Obama’s new strategy,’ a spokesperson for the group, Lauren Weiner, just emailed. Jon Soltz, the head of VoteVets … came out in support of Obama’s Afghan strategy in an Op Ed with The Huffington Post. … Liberal groups don’t want to distract from passing Obama’s enormous domestic agenda. … And officials with some of these groups don’t want to lose inside influence with the White House.”

When the Solution to the Financial Crisis becomes the Cause

US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has unveiled his long-awaited plan to put the US banking system back in order. In doing so, he has refused to tell the ‘dirty little secret‘ of the present financial crisis. By refusing to do so, he is trying to save de facto bankrupt US banks that threaten to bring the entire global system down in a new more devastating phase of wealth destruction.

Is CCD caused by pesticides?

Posted by seumasach on March 29, 2009

Judging from this extract from a Spanish study on CCD, the answer is no. Note that this Spanish team has been studying CCD since 1999, years before it officially came into existence.

From CCD: Considerations on its origin

Depopulation and treatment of sunflower seeds with pesticides

The toxicity of certain pesticides  is the cause most often cited for bee losses. For the last six years we have studied the possible effects of certain pesticides such as imidaclopride(Gaucho) or fipronil(Regent), used in the treatment of sunflower seeds and the link to hive populations, following concerns in the sector about their use. I welcomed the opportunity to represent the Autism Rights group at this

important event.  Much of what I had to tell those who attended the Children’s

Session, Chaired by Sabina Frediani of Liberty was probably new to them. In

effect, my short talk was my own witness statement to violations of Human

Rights and Civil Liberties in relation to  families, especially families with children

who are autistic or suffer from other disabilities; and unremitting retaliation by

the Government to prevent such violations being proven. The end result being

ongoing damage to families and their disabled children which one could never

imagine would happen in our so called advanced age.

Home secretary Jacqui Smith embarrassed by new expenses row.

“Asked if she should resign Davis said: “I don’t call for people to go unless I think there is absolutely a smoking gun.”

Guardian

29th March, 2009

The home secretary, Jacqui Smith, apologised today for an expenses claim which included adult films watched by her husband.

Smith said she mistakenly submitted an expenses claim which included five pay-per-view films, including two adult movies which were viewed at her family home in her Redditch constituency.

The £67 Virgin Media bill was submitted last June as part of Smith’s expenses. It included two 18-rated features, each costing £5, which were viewed on 1 April and 6 April last year. The bill also included two viewings of the film Ocean’s 13 ‑ at £3.75 each ‑ and an additional £3.50 to watch the film Surf’s Up.

Time to stop the rip-off

Posted by seumasach on March 29, 2009

“This is the biggest rip-off in the history of man. There is no end in sight. When will the Obama administration get it? Obama will have to learn the toughest decision there is in business – when it’s time to stop throwing good money after bad money.”

The crisis in the United States has taken a dangerous turn over the past week, a turn that may prove to be the undoing of the Barack Obama presidency.
Hossein Askari and Noureddine Krichene

Asia Times

27th March, 2009

On January 20, Obama stepped into much more than the worst economic and financial crisis since the Great Depression. He inherited the helm of a country ravaged by 30 years of runaway human greed and a complicit government that rewarded it. Obama now finds himself in the middle of a perfect tempest, buffeted on the one side by a relentless financial and economic downturn and on the other a bewildered nation waking up to the landscape of unparalleled economic injustice that had been hidden out of sight with most Americans working hard just to get by.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF), in both ELF (extremely low frequency) and radio frequency (RF) ranges, activate the cellular stress response, a protective mechanism that induces the expression of stress response genes, e.g., HSP70, and increased levels of stress proteins, e.g., hsp70.
