Radiation: Health official moves to HC seeking action against cell phone company authorities’

The ICNIRP guidelines based as they are on thermal effects alone are obviously inadequate. However, the situation in India is so bad that even those represent a step-forward: more importantly this action represents the growing concern and recognition of the dangers to public due to EM radiation in India. They are also concerned about the wider environmental impact for the mobile phone network, notably on bees.

INDORE: Concerned over the residents’ health due to the radiation from the mushrooming of illegal cell phone towers in residential areas, an official of the state health department has moved the high court seeking appropriate action against cellphone service providers and authorities concerned granting permission to install the towers recklessly.

Radiation safety officer at the health department Shashikant Vajpayee has filed a caveat in the court seeking its order for setting up a committee to check whether the norms of the International Commission for Non-ionizing Radiation Protection ( ICNIRP) are being followed or not.
