NATO launched nearly 3,200 attacks with depleted uranium bombs against civilians in Libya. This is the denunciation of the special envoy of Telesur, Rolando Segura. The total number of air strikes launched by the Atlantic Alliance against Libya is over 8,400 already. Almost 40% of these involved use of depleted uranium munitions, revealed the South American television journalist in his Twitter profile.

Dr. Yousef Ibrahim, the head of the environment quality authority, said on Tuesday that the number of cancer and kidney failure patients in the Gaza Strip is on the rise as a result of the Israeli use of depleted uranium and phosphorus bombs in the war on Gaza last year.

If the spirit of the notorious Dr Repacholi still haunts the ICRP at the WHO then not much hope can be held out for this investigation. In his view, depleted uranium “is basically safe’, just as are virtually all exposures to radiation, ionising or non-ionising. There can be little doubt as to the tragic effects of DU which is already being investigated by the Iraqi authorities: it’s time now to launch an investigation into the WHO itself.
