On Thursday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper suspended Canada’s parliament to avoid a challenge from opposition parties that were planning to oust him from power. The 3-party coalition — the Liberals, the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois — decided to remove Harper because of his strong opposition to a stimulus package that was designed to minimize the effects of the financial crisis. They also opposed his “proposed elimination of subsidies for political parties, a three-year ban on the right of civil servants to strike, and limits on the ability of women to sue for pay equity.” Governor General Michaelle Jean helped Harper to hang on by using her constitutional authority to close the legislature for seven weeks. “Dental amalgams contain mercury, which may have neurotoxic effects on the nervous systems of developing children and fetuses. When amalgam fillings are placed in teeth or removed from teeth, they release mercury vapor. Mercury vapor is also released during chewing. FDA’s rulemaking (described in question 7) will examine evidence concerning whether release of mercury vapor can cause health problems, including neurological disorders, in children and fetuses.”
Mercury is just about the most toxic substance known to man: only a madman or a genocidal maniac would put mercury in people’s teeth. How long will the British dental establishment continue to stonewall on this issue and when will we get assurances that mercury in the form of thimerosal will not be injected into children, in particular? When will we get a serious examination of the mercury-autism connection?

1. What is dental amalgam?
Dental amalgam is the silver-colored material used to fill (restore) teeth that have cavities. Dental amalgam is made of two nearly equal parts: liquid mercury and a powder containing silver, tin, copper, zinc and other metals. Mercury concentration in dental amalgams is generally about 50% by weight, while the silver concentration ranges from 20-35%.

Mandelson rejects euro talk claim
The dominant political parties in the UK have broken silence on the euro. This in typical Orwellian fashion is a non-story. Overtly it says nothing has changed. The whispers in Whitehall are being denied. Yet it appears there is no substantive rejection of the euro other than popular sentiment which is buoyed by the media. The Conservatives have come out with their usual mantra on interest rates. It is hard to tell how much both parties have lost contact with reality but the article may represent a pivotal shift in the way the euro will be reported as the pound sinks
