Nation Poised to Reject Billions in US Aid

by Jason Ditz, October 05, 2009

Growing opposition to the US attempts to expand its influence in Pakistan is taking shape in the form of increasing resistance to plans by Pakistan’s military and increasingly its civilian government as well.

America’s fortress-like Islamabad embassy

Nowhere has American power been more visible than the massive expansion of the embassy in Islamabad, sparking protests against the site that will some day hold Ambassador Anne Patterson, a contentious figure in her own right who has been threatening US military attacks against the city of Quetta if Pakistan doesn’t give in to demands to launch action of its own. Iran’s Nuclear Threat Is A LIE

Obama’s “showdown” with Iran has another agenda. The media have been tasked with preparing the public for endless war

In 2001, the Observer published a series of reports that claimed an “Iraqi connection” to al-Qaeda, even describing the base in Iraq where the training of terrorists took place and a facility where anthrax was being manufactured as a weapon of mass destruction. It was all false. Supplied by US intelligence and Iraqi exiles, planted stories in the British and US media helped George Bush and Tony Blair to launch an illegal invasion which caused, according to the most recent study, 1.3 million deaths. The pubs and coffee shops of Britain are probably not full of chat about the Baltic Dry index.

But it is worth a look all the same, as the index tracks the cost of moving raw materials by sea. It is thus a rough-and-ready guide to global trade activity, although of course it is also affected by shipping capacity. Read the rest of this entry »

I HOPE that other readers have noticed the exchange rate between the glorious wonderful pound and the awful dreaded euro.

We could have gone into the euro a few years ago when the exchange rate was about 1.60 to the £1, which meant that if you had a pension of £10,000 per annum you would have got a pension of 16,000, same with your savings and so it would appear that a person or government in credit would benefit. However, many people are not in credit, the Government is hugely in debt, and was. The debtor with a debt of £10,000 would have had a debt of 16,000, not a happy bunny at all. Danger In Mobile PhoneCommunication Towers
EDITOR
Mmegi online

5/10/09

Are we being denied information by the cell phone companies or the telecommunications industry regulator regarding the dangers of communication towers?

The towers are mushrooming everywhere in Botswana. They have become a source of income for many people who are lucky enough to provide land for the erection of the towers. However, studies have shown that even at low levels, the radiation from the towers can damage cell tissue and DNA. The radiation has been linked to brain tumours, cancer, suppressed immune function, depression, miscarriage, Alzheimer’s disease and serious illnesses. Read the rest of this entry »
