While the international Press details the astonishing about-face by Donald Trump, Thierry Meyssan shows that it is nothing of the sort – far from having abandoned his ideal of peace, the President of the United States is raging and bombing, while taking great care to commit nothing irreparable.

Still revelling in the glory of having been informed in advance of Trump’s airstrikes on Syria, the British leadership, characteristically, is placing it’s most fervent hopes on further military action against the man who stands between stability and the descent of Syria into the kind of chaos we engendered in Libya. I don’t know- they are simply incorrigible! We must hope that Trump turns out to be a disappointment to them for all his bluff and bluster.

Whilst we are certainly getting a bang for our buck with America’s erratic new president his bark appears to be a lot worse than his bite. The truth is that we have another Hamlet-type figure in the White House. The fact that so far he has only lunged at Polonius behind the arras and launched misogynistic tirades against against queen Gertrude and Ophelia should not lead us to assume automatically that he will not ultimately settle scores with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern and their manipulator, Claudius.

“No matter Trump’s game plan to drive a wedge between China and Russia by exploiting Xi’s interest in a ‘new type of major country relations’ with US, it is preposterous that Beijing will allow any erosion to the Sino-Russian entente. The point is, for both China and Russia, their number one priority in world politics will be to push back at US hegemony and there is no daylight possible here between them for a foreseeable future.”

The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced earlier today that the Director of the General Office of the Communist Party of China Li Zhanshu will visit Russia on April 25-27 at the invitation of his counterpart, head of the Presidential Administration in the Kremlin Anton Vaino. The Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in Beijing that the two officials will discuss China-Russia relations “as previously agreed on by the countries’ leaders” and that the Chinese side is confident that the visit will further galvanize Sino-Russian ties. “There is another way to take advantage of the trade surplus China enjoys: to make financing one of the requirements in the infrastructure projects that Chinese companies wish to take part in. China should be quite willing to do so as it has been actively financing various projects along the Silk Road.”

The significance of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Russia on March 27-28 goes far beyond the bilateral relationship. Iran is one of the main actors in Syria and Iraq. It has an importance place in the geopolitical plans of US President Donald Trump. Its relationship with Russia is an important factor of international politics. The future of the entire Middle East depends to a great extent on what Russia and Iran do and how effectively they coordinate their activities.
