Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) — OAO Gazprom and other Russian energy producers will join with Petroleos de Venezuela SA to work on projects around the world, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said. 

“It’s a colossus being born, Chavez said live on Venezuelan state television from Russia, which he was visiting for the second time in two months. The companies will combine “investment, exploration, exploitation, processing and commerce in energy, oil, gas and many other areas,he said.

Chávez says U.S. economy “a sinking ship”
Venezuela President Hugo Chávez, speaking in China moments before flying on to Russia as part of a five-nation tour, on Thursday described the U.S. economy as “a sinking ship” in the final throes of capitalism but pledged that he would not cut off oil exports to the U.S. unless his nation were attacked.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Iran and other nations prepared to rescue US from economic collapse

At 4:17 into the video, this quote: “The Iranian people are prepared, along with other nations, to help you be rescued from your current situation and establish peace and prosperity”

It is clear from the “along with other nations” part that this is a serious offer. Certainly it is far more attractive than Paulson’s 700 billion or else proposal.

Scores of solidarity campaigners picketed the US embassy in London on Wednesday night before a huge rally at the National Union of Journalists head office to demand an end to US interference in Latin America.
Responding to ongoing coup attempts in Bolivia and Venezuela, NUJ general secretary Jeremy Dear said that it was ironic that he was protesting outside the US embassy when its government had nationalised more of its economy in the last few days than Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez had in the last decade.
