In These New Times

A new paradigm for a post-imperial world

The reckless depredations of corporate power and neo-Malthusian enthusiasts within the elite threaten our environment and our very survival. EM radiation, disappearing bees and pollinators, heavy metal toxicity, GM crops and soil depletion are amongst the most immediate dangers we face.

GMO Crop Catastrophe in USA a lesson for EU

Posted by seumasach on August 25, 2010

“cloned animals with engineered innate immunity to diseases”.

This sounds like the eugenics/malthusian brethren: and indeed it is! Professor Sir John Beddington ( for it is he!) has called for the British population to be reduced to 18 million and, by the sound of it, it isn’t just empty talk.

As the European Union moves closer to approving the cultivation of GMOs despite stiff widespread opposition, it ought to be paying urgent attention to the agricultural arms race unfolding in the United States. The gospel of high-tech genetically modified (GM) crops is no longer sounding quite so sweet. Roundup-resistant “superweeds” are plaguing Monsanto crops across southern US states, driving farmers to use more herbicides, abandon their farms or …. return to conventional crops.

Italian high court finds mobile and chordless phones a danger

Posted by seumasach on August 10, 2010

From Andrew Goldsworthy

Further to my email on  August 6th, can I remind you that the French Authorities have already removed WiFi from their public libraries because of symptoms of electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) among the staff. Also, there has been a recent judgement by a High Court in Italy that an employer who forced his staff to use mobile and cordless phones (which have a similar technology to WiFi), has been held legally responsible for a brain tumour and instructed to pay compensation to the person concerned, plus legal costs. I am pasting in a translation of the news item below.

Climate Weapons- More Than Just a Conspiracy Theory?

Posted by seumasach on August 6, 2010

RIAN

27th July, 2010

This story by Andrey Areshev, political scientist, PhD (History), Strateic Culture Foundation expert, was published in International Affairs magazine.

The abnormally hot weather in the central regions of Russia has already caused serious economic damage. It has destroyed crops on roughly 20% of the country’s agricultural land lots, the result being that the food prices are clearly set to climb next fall. On top of that, fires are raging over peat lands around Moscow. These days, the majority of forecasts concerning the climate are alarming: droughts, hurricanes, and floods are going to be increasingly frequent and severe. Director of the climate and energy program of the Wildlife Fund A. Kokorin says that the current trend is not a random phenomenon and should not be expected to subside.

Cuckoos are disappearing fast. How many more ecological warnings do we need?

Posted by smeddum on July 22, 2010

Yet again the British media roll out another “expert” who does not mention anything about the way birds navigate by using the earth’s electromagnetic field.  How long will this question be ignored! As scientific studies like this pile up.

Britain’s favourite birds are disappearing, in a pattern that could have devastating consequences, writes Colin Tudge.

Britain is losing some of its best-loved birds, and at an alarming rate, according to the latest UK Breeding Bird Survey. Cuckoos were down by 44 per cent nationwide between 1995 and 2008 (including an astonishing 71 per cent in the South West) – and then fell by another 21 per cent between 2008 and 2009. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has now added the cuckoo to its Red Data List of endangered species. Kestrels have declined by 36 per cent since 1995, and in the North East, the Northumberland National Park has lost 38 per cent of its curlews. There were big falls, too, in grey partridge, starlings and lapwings. Read the rest of this entry »

8/7/10
In spite of Maharashtra being the epicenter of the swine flu outbreak last year and currently witnessing over 200 infection cases this monsoon, doctors and public health workers in the state are refusing to take the swine flu vaccine.

Doubts over the effectiveness of the vaccine, the mode of administering it, its possible side-effects, and even automatic immunity gained from working with patients so far are some of the several reasons due to which the paramedical staff refuse to take the vaccination. Adverse Influence of radio frequency background on trembling aspen seedlings: preliminary observations

Posted by seumasach on July 9, 2010

Numerous incidents of aspen decline have been recorded in North America over the past half century, and incidents of very rapid mortality of aspen clones have been observed in Colorado since 2004. The radio frequency (RF) environment of the earth has undergone major changes in the past two centuries due to the development and use of electricity in power and communications applications, and the anthropogenic RF background continues to increase in intensity and complexity. This study suggests that the RF background may have strong adverse effects on growth rate and fall anthocyanin production in aspen, and may be an underlying factor in aspen decline.
