Maximilian Forte

Counterpunch

19th February, 2013

This weekend, marking the second anniversary of the start of protests that would usher in a bloody and prolonged NATO-led coup to overthrow the Libyan Jamahiriya and Muammar Gaddafi, offers many reasons to celebrate for those whose intention was the demolition of Libyan self-determination, African integration, and a domestic system of extensive social welfare and stability.

APNewsBreak: Report casts doubt on US missile shield in Europe protecting America

Posted by seumasach on February 16, 2013

A new missile defense system aimed at Russia could undermine the balance between the nuclear powers, leading Moscow to add to its arsenal and build up its own defenses. It would undermine prospects for further cuts in nuclear weapons, which are a priority for President Barack Obama, and could hurt U.S.-Russian cooperation on other issues of international importance.

Yes, Obama has the key to unlock the long-awaited peace dividend. In return for dismantling missile defence Obama can hope for much needed Russian and Chinese assistance in the rebuilding of America

Washington Post

9th February, 2013

WASHINGTON — Secret Defense Department studies cast doubt on whether a multibillion-dollar missile defense system planned for Europe can ever protect the U.S. from Iranian missiles as intended, congressional investigators say.

For a peace process in accordance with the interests of the Syrian people

EU battle over move to ease arms flow for Syrian rebels

Posted by seumasach on February 16, 2013

Hague’s “never say die” approach is increasingly out of line with international opinion which understands that the Syrian rebels are losing and haas no illusions about a “moderate opposition”. Anyway here another reason for us to oppose Europe: they are inhibiting our sponsorship of international terrorism!

Telegraph

15th February, 2013

British and French attempts to lift the EU arms embargo that is hampering the flow of weapons to Syrian rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad are being blocked by powerful states including Germany.

The participants, roaming several streets in the area, hailed the Syrian army and condemned the crimes committed by the terrorists and the sides supporting them, particularly the Turkish government.

They highlighted that the people of Aleppo will stand firm in the face of the terrorists’ attempts to force them to leave their city, adding that the crimes will not dissuade them from their national stances.

The participants underlined that this march is a clear message to all misleading media outlets that the Syrian people are committed to their national unity and standing by their army.

They said that the people of Aleppo are stronger than the terrorists’ crimes, affirming that Syria will remain firm because of the strength of its army and the wisdom of its leadership.
