Obama and Karzai agree to part ways

M.K.Bhadrakumar

Indian Punchline

The US president Barack Obama’s telephone call to Afghan president Hamid Karzai on Tuesday is a rare happening, given the poor equations between the two leaders, and it was intended to flag a ‘turning point’ in the White House’s strategy for the period beyond 2014. It comes just before an important NATO meeting at defence minister level in Brussels and at a time when for the first time the majority opinion among the American public has begun casting doubts on the raison d’etre of the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

British “anti-fascists” fail to spot fascist coup

Posted by seumasach on February 27, 2014

The Socilaist Worker’s Party which has claimed the vanguard role in the fight against fascism since the 1970s has failed to spot the fascist coup d’etat in Ukraine limiting itself to the casual observation that “some of the fascist street fighters have been offered jobs alongside the police”.

In fact , the riot police have been disbanded and according to EuroActiv “Andriy Paruby, head of the “self-defence” force protecting the Kyiv protest zone from police action during the three months of conflict, was named secretary of the powerful National Security and Defence Council”.

The “fascist street fighters” are being integrated into the regime. That sounds like a fascist regime to me.

“As fighting intensified the reliance on far right militias grew. But so did the depth of opposition to the president.” Oh well, in that case… I mean, if the it’s about breaking “Ukraine’s Stalinist ruling class”!

Voltairenet

22nd February, 2014

Poland, the eager American servant that it has been, has now officially taken on the role of the ‘Slavic Turkey’ in relation to Ukraine. Just as Turkey has been a geopolitically convenient conduit for arms, personnel, and material support for the Syrian terrorists, so too has Poland begun to officially fulfill this role for their Ukrainian counterparts.

Aleppo, Yabrud, and the end of the war on Syria

War is a Crime

18th February, 2014

The Syrian Arab Army may be on the verge of another set of victories that go far beyond those gained in the summer of 2013 when the Syrian army and Hezbollah took the rebel held city of Qusayr.   The hotly contested battles rage in the major city of Aleppo and the much smaller mountain city of Yabrud. Major gains in either locale would be significant.  Victories in both would raise questions about the various rebel factions and their ability to continue contesting for control of the country.
