It can hardly then be a coincidence that the UK and Israel are unilaterally declaring Iran responsible for the recent drone attack on an Israeli-owned ship. Both have an interest in drawing the USA back under their influence after the setback of US-Russian detente

It wasn’t so long ago that the US was reportedly close to rejoining the Iran nuclear deal, and diplomats were saying many of the terms had been worked out. Now, the US is growing pessimistic, suggesting that the return may be politically impossible.
