Don’t Be Fooled by Inflation

Strike up the band, boys, happy days are here again! Recently released short-term economic data, including unemployment claims, non-farm payrolls, home sales, and business spending, which had been so unambiguously horrific in February and March, are now just garden-variety awful. With the Wicked Witch of Depression now apparently crushed under the house of Obamanomics, the Munchkins of Wall Street have sounded the all clear, pushing the Dow Jones up 25% from its lows. But the premature conclusion of their Lollipop Guild economists, that the crash of 2008/2009 is now a fading memory, is just as delusional as their failure to see it coming in the first place. Nothing is more amusing than listening to the fogeys of the British Marxist left on the crisis.
What is the answer to the question which Comrade Callinicos poses here? Basically, yes!- it’s business as usual as capitalism has its own correcting mechanisms.
“Fortunately, this decline will not continue indefinitely. Free market economists are not completely wrong to say that there are self-correcting mechanisms that will work to push output upwards’
But beware! A faction within the bourgeoisie are intent on foiling New Labour’s neo-keynesian counter crisis policy. This is led by a fiendish combination of the Germans and the Tories.
“A powerful faction – headed internationally by the German government – argues that higher government borrowing will simply pile up government debt, adding to the burden on the economy”
So we must brace ourselves for “a long period of slow growth’.
Time to allow the revolutionary vanguard to prepare for the crisis of capitalism.
Will the global economy recover?
Alex Callinicos

The idea that the green shoots of economic recovery are sprouting everywhere has become entrenched among a layer of economic pundits. They cite the fact that the stock markets have been rising quite strongly.

Old Gordon Brown appears not to have all his cups in the cupboard, as the Germans would say. During question time in the British parliament last Wednesday he claimed that Britain was in the process of negotiating with the International Monetary Fund and other institutions on how to collect from Icelandic authorities the money they owe as a result of the collapse of Iceland’s banks.

The disappearance of wild bees isn’t particularly suggestive of a pesticide connection. Nor is this “let’s have more research to show why it’s pesticides” a particularly scientific approach. It’s a disappointing one from the Moray beekeepers who are perfectly aware of the EM radiation hypothesis as this article by beekeeper, Marion Lang, shows. I would have thought political correctness a scant compensation for the disaster we’ve got coming to us and that the failure of the experts to produce a coherent explanation for CCD was a good reason to consider all possibilities.

Is Obama Taking on the Israel Lobby?
It sure looks like it
by Justin Raimondo, May 08, 2009

‘WE’VE ALREADY INFECTED HALF THE WORLD WITH OUR SWINE FLU …TO ADD TO OUR PROBLEMS, SOON THEY’L CLASSIFY US AS ONE OF THE COUNTRIES IN THE AXIS OF EVIL.’
La Cronica de Hoy, Mexico Is Swine Flu the Latest U.S. Bioweapon Attack?
“The patent for Tamiflu, the medicine recommended by the World Health Organization, is owned by Gilead Sciences, one of the properties of Donald Rumsfeld, [former] U.S. Defense Secretary. … To accept that we are again dealing with the manipulation of a virus by U.S. military might seem ridiculous … and yet, there is evidence in its own media of the negligent way that nation treats the handling of this dreaded field of biological warfare.”

Mexico – La Cronica de Hoy – Original Article (Spanish)
There are governments who tend to unify public opinion. A perfect example would be the government of Miguel de la Madrid, which became paralyzed after the earthquake of September 19, 1985. Madrid didn’t know what to do and left rescuing the victims and restoring of Mexico City in the hands of ordinary citizens and the Virgin de Guadalupe.
To this day, popular opinion condemns the former president for his absence and his apparent lack of interest in the fate those he governed.
The tragedy that now confronts the government of Felipe Calderón also fulfills these criteria, except for the newspapers, where there is recognition of the extreme measures that have been taken to address the swine flu.
But in the streets, the perception is a different one. Many connect the surprising emergence of the plague with the approaching elections on July 5, while others charge that the virus is a way of diverting the attention of Mexicans from the grave economic crisis, rising unemployment and the unchecked rise of assassinations in the streets of the country’s major cities. A minority simply ask who is being enriched as a result of the epidemic.
The answer to that is simple, although it may be terribly misleading: The patent for Tamiflu, the medicine recommended by the World Health Organization, is owned by Gilead Sciences, one of the properties of Donald Rumsfeld, [former] Secretary of Defense of the United States. The manufacture and sale of the drug are carried out by Roche Laboratories, who, thanks to the tragedy, have risen in the ranks at the Zurich Stock Exchange by 3.5 percent. Intellectual Dishonesty In The Age Of Universal Deceit:
a message to the corporate media and our elected officials.
By Daniel Sunjata – May 4, 2009 – www.911blogger.com
“The inert masses are mentally and spiritually ill equipped to deal with reality, so they block it out of their minds – aided of course, by the corporate media and the propaganda apparatus of the government itself. This is why fantasy is frequently substituted for reality, plutocracy is mistaken for democracy, and the majority of the people do not know the difference. Millions of good people thus refuse to allow into their psyche the suffering and misery that U.S. policies have produced and exported to the world, even as that reality is closing in upon them.” –Charles Sullivan
“They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality…and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening.” – George Orwell, 1984
“Article XXXIV OBSTRUCTION OF INVESTIGATION INTO THE ATTACKS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001” – From the 35 articles of impeachment introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on 06/09/08 in H.Res. 1258 by Congressman Dennis Kucinich
The list is not a short one. It includes professors, architects, aerospace and aviation professionals, structural/mechanical/& aeronautical engineers, demolition experts, firefighters and other first responders, scientists, theologians, senior members of both the military and intelligence communities, Republican administration appointees, state department veterans, and other government officials from the United States and abroad; credible experts of impeccable pedigree with impressive track records from relevant fields of expertise, whose coolly rational intellects are not easily given to an unfounded belief in outlandish, unsubstantiated, or unverifiable claims. Individuals such as these are numbered among the ranks of skeptics and critics of the official theory of conspiracy regarding the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Some pose questions, others draw conclusions, still others (like Congressman Kucinich) go so far as to level accusations and to substantiate them with evidence. Read the rest of this entry »

La Era esta Pariendo un Corazon- (Silvio Rodriguez)
The Era is Giving Birth to a Heart
Le he preguntado a mi sombra
a ver como ando para reírme,
mientras el llanto, con voz de templo,
rompe en la sala
regando el tiempo.
[I asked my shadow
what I must do to laugh again,
while my tears, with the voice of a temple,
burst into the room
watering times as it passes.]
Mi sombra dice que reírse
es ver los llantos como mi llanto,
y me he callado, desesperado
y escucho entonces:
la tierra llora.
[My shadow says that to smile
is to see all tears as my tears,
and silently, in despair,
I hear the earth weep.]
La era está pariendo un corazón,
no puede más, se muere de dolor
y hay que acudir corriendo
pues se cae el porvenir.
En cualquier selva del mundo,
en cualquier calle.
[The era is giving birth to a heart,
it can’t go on, it is dying of pain,
we must run to help,
our future is collapsing.
In whichever jungle
or street, in the world, you are in]
Debo dejar la casa y el sillón,
la madre vive hasta que muere el sol,
y hay que quemar el cielo si es preciso
por vivir.
Por cualquier hombre del mundo,
por cualquier casa.
[I must leave home and my armchair,
where my mother will live until the sun is extinguished,
We must set the sky alight
if necessary to live.
Wherever you are in the world,
in whichever house]
