Three Israeli generals as well as scores of soldiers have been reportedly wounded on the 18th day of Tel Aviv’s attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Three Israeli generals and three soldiers were injured in Tuesday’s fighting with the resistance in the costal sliver, Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV station reported on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the armed wing of Fatah movement said in a statement on Tuesday that one of its fighters had blown himself up among a group of Israeli soldiers.

The statement, released by the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, said that around 20 Israeli soldiers had been killed or wounded in the attack, which was carried out near the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia.

There was no immediate response from the Israeli military to confirm or deny the statement.

While Israel says it has only lost 12 soldiers during 19 days of attacks on Gaza, Hamas figures suggest that at least 34 Israeli forces have been killed and nearly 100 have been injured since the beginning of Tel Aviv’s military campaign on December 27.

Israel launched Operation Cast Lead to halt the rockets fired from the Gaza Strip in retaliation to the blockade of the densely-populated costal region, which is home to 1.5 million people.

Thus far, 975 Gazans – including at least 311 children and 97 women – have been killed and 4,500 others have been wounded in Israel’s aggression.
