Signs Of An Attempted Coup In New Delhi

Posted by seumasach on November 30, 2008

“Everywhere the talk is of terrorist groups, tribalism, ethnicity, secession and always the hand of Anglo-American subversion can reasonably suspected although not always proven. The goal here is not global conquest but global chaos; it is a scorched earth policy- if the empire cannot prevail then at least no one else will, and privilege will hold sway over democracy in a world of fragmented nation states and local oligarchies.”

This is how I characterised the spirit of the Obama agenda back in January. Is it this that we now see unfolding?

ISLAMABADPakistan—Preliminary signs emerging from India’s power center, New Delhi, paint a picture of an unstable situation. Security is already compromised. But a bigger story is taking place in New Delhi, not Mumbai. There are disturbing signs that India, a nuclear-armed nation of a billion people, is witnessing a ‘soft coup’ attempt involving secular rightwing ideologues and Hindu nationalists.

Since the US led invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, the Golden Crescent opium trade has soared. According to the US media, this lucrative contraband is protected by Osama, the Taliban, not to mention, of course, the regional warlords, in defiance of the “international community”.

Rashid Rauf Murdered

Craig Murray’s Blog

26th november, 2008

There is a highly sensible article in today’s Times by Patrick Mercer MP about the possible death of Rashid Rauf (whose family are denying his demise).
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article5233272.ece
New Labour remains so bent on its simple minded pursuit of a foreign policy based on brute violence, that questions of legality are simply ignored. The Conservatives – in this case Mr Mercer – must again be congratulated for resisting simple populism and standing up for the fabric of legality that must underpin freedom.

The Truth about the “Terror Plot”…. and the new “pseudo-terrorism”

Posted by seumasach on November 23, 2008

As this analysis shows, it was fairly clear at the time that there was no evidence for the liquid bomb terror plot. A British jury have just reached the same conclusion: the Crown will now have to try again with a more amenable jury.

The Cutting Edge

Nafeez Ahmed

21st August, 2006

I am disappointed to say that so far there has been very little serious critical discussion, grounded in factual analysis, of the alleged “Terror Plot” foiled on the morning of Wednesday, 10th August 2006. Except for a few noteworthy comment pieces, such as Craig Murray’s critical speculations published by the Guardian last Friday, the mainstream media has largely subserviently parroted the official claims of the British and American governments. This is a shame, because inspection of the facts raises serious problems for the 10/8 official narrative.

Stop Stirring it all up, Mr Davies

STOP STIRRING IT ALL UP, MR DAVIES

Nov 9 2008 by Our Correspondent, Wales On Sunday

I COULDN’T believe it when I saw Monmouth Tory MP David Davies on television last week pontificating and complaining about the highly-acclaimed and award-winning film Hunger, and worse – it seemed to me – stirring up controversy about the Welsh Assembly Government.
Just in case you don’t know, Hunger has been directed by Turner prize-winning artist Steve McQueen and the film takes an uncompromising look at the last six weeks in the life of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands. Sandra Hebron for Time Out says it’s “a film of outstanding boldness and beauty and a compelling study of people in extreme circumstances resorting to extreme measures. McQueen is to be applauded for a brilliant and uncompromising film”. Read the rest of this entry »
