The British Government damns itself with faint condemnation
Hague “deplores” Gaza aid ship deaths

The Foreign Secretary today “deplored” the loss of life during the interception of a flotilla of ships carrying aid to Gaza.
Up to 15 people were killed after Israeli commandoes boarded ships carrying 10,000 tonnes of aid en route from Cyprus.
William Hague said the British embassy was in “urgent contact” with the Israeli government, asking for more information.

“We are very angry, very afraid, very sad, very upset. My wife, she is depressed. When she sees police in the street she’s very frightened. They destroyed our life,” says Badi Tebani.
In January 2009, Tebani’s teenage son Yahia was one of tens of thousands of people who joined demonstrations in London against the Israeli bombing of Gaza. At one of those demonstrations Yahia and many others were “kettled” — surrounded by a police cordon and slowly let out in return for giving their names and addresses and for being filmed.

Meanwhile, according to some sources Israel’s atomic arsenal is being aimed at European capitals. This is logical: Israel recognises that Europe will not always continue to act as a vassal of the US and is likely, at some point. to throw in its weight behind the Palestinians.

The European Parliament adopted during its Wednesday session a decision calling for implementing the recommendations of the Goldstone report on Gaza war, in preparation to present the resolution to the 13th session of the United Nations’ Human Rights Council which will be held in Geneva by the end of March [1].
