Can Congress, hawks and the Israel lobby wreck the US-Iran talks?

Posted by seumasach on November 3, 2013

Nation

30th October, 2013

The Obama administration is working hard to head off a wrecking ball from Congress and the Israel lobby aimed at sabotaging negotiations between Iran and the P5+1. The talks, which resume in November, also include direct talks between the United States and Iran. The key issue: members of the House and Senate are trying to force-feed the administration yet another round of anti-Iran sanctions, at the very worst possible moment.

White House Expected to ease sanctions targeting Syria …Iran to follow?

Posted by seumasach on November 3, 2013

Ahlul Bayt News Agency

1st November, 2013

Pressure on Obama from Putin as part of the ‘price tag’ for Russia’s role  with bailing out the American president with the chemical weapons ‘redline’ which became a canard is one reason.  Another reason is that the White House believes that it needs to communicate to Damascus that prospects for better relations and even some cooperation are not completely destroyed as a result of the 32 month crisis still raging in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Intifada-Palestine

3rd October, 2013

have always believed that, at some point, the Israeli prime minister and his lobby would lose their grip on U.S. Middle East policy. At least I’ve believed that since 1982 when Tom Dine, AIPAC’s most successful executive director, explained how it would happen.

Obama v. Wall Street

Posted by seumasach on September 21, 2013

Cailean Bochanan

21st Septemebr, 2013

I’ve already been called mad for my assertion over the last nine months or so that Obama is actually engaged in some kind of peace process involving a historic compromise with Russia in working a resolution of the Syria crisis as well as a broader Middle East settlement. I seem to be the only one who doesn’t know that Obama is a bad guy and that bad guys do bad things, like rocketing Syria at the first available opportunity. Obama again puts military strike – and vote in Congress – on hold to give Russian proposal a chance

Debka

10th September, 2013

US president Barack Obama went against the words of his advisers, Secretary of State John Kerry and National Security Adviser Susan Rice Monday, and offered in TV interviews early Tuesday, Sept. 10, to “absolutely” put on hold military action against Syria, as well as the vote in Congress,  if Bashar Assad abandoned chemical weapons. He said he found some positive signs in the Russian proposal [for Assad to hand over his chemical arsenal to international control] and said he was willing to run it to ground in the next few days to see if the Syrian issue can’t be solved without the military option.
