Helsinki will host the first two-day Euro-BRICS Summit of young leaders beginning on June 8, 2015, said a press release.
The event will bring together youth delegations from the EU, Brazil, China, India, South Africa, Russia and the candidate countries for accession to the EU and partner countries.
In addition to youth leaders, diplomatic session will be attended by members of parliament and ministries of Europe and BRICS.

When the BRIC launched their own club in 2009[1], their goal was pretty simple: to provide a group strong enough to initiate and drive the reform of the global governance institutions. This dynamic alliance intended to pursue their adjustment to the new realities of a multi-polar world in which they were the main actors : to reconcile voting weight and financial participation in the IMF[2] and the World Bank, to integrate the constraints of the new powers in this WTO[3]“philosophy” and to involve the dollar in a basket of currencies of significant world economies in order to create a new international trading currency, a stronger and more representative[4] one…

Europe is at a crucial turning point: it can either go on to emerge as sovereign, political union at the heart of the post-imperial, multipolar world order or it will fragment politically and revert to a fiefdom of Anglo-Saxon financial feudalism. Given the terminal economic crisis in the US/UK, and the weakness of the dollar/pound, the latter prospect seems unlikely, but, if the disfunctionality of the European leadership which the Ukrainian crisis has revealed is not remedied, the worst cannot be discounted.

Cette idée ne doit pas être confondue avec celle recommandant une rupture avec les Etats-Unis. Il s’agirait seulement de prendre beaucoup plus d’indépendance à leur égard. La politique qu’ils conduisent actuellement dans la crise ukrainienne, en entrainant l’Otan avec eux, ne peut que conduire à des difficultés insurmontables pour l’Europe. Beaucoup d’Européens sensés commencent à s’en rendre compte, mais les vieilles adhérences sont difficiles à dénouer.

A recommendation to Euro-BRICS leaders: Organize a mini Euro-BRICS Summit, ahead of the St Petersburg G20, in order to develop common strategic positions to exit the crisis and bring global governance into the XXI° century

As a result of the 3rd Euro-BRICS seminar organized by LEAP in partnership with MGIMO in Cannes on September 27-28, 2012, the experts from Euroland and BRICS countries who gathered for the occasion, wished to give their leaders a series of arguments in favour of holding a mini-Euro-BRICS summit ahead of the St Petersburg G20. This recommendation is in line with two other warnings given to the G20 leaders in 2009 (Open letter to the London-G20 leaders, 03/24/2009) and in 2011 (Advice to the Cannes-G20 leaders, 09/15/2011) relating to the management of the global systemic crisis at the initiative of Franck Biancheri, director of Studies and Strategy at LEAP, who passed away last October 30th. This letter is also intended as a tribute to all the energy he expended over four years, despite his illness: explaining the crisis, formulating policy recommendations to solve it, and creating the tools to make these recommendations heard.
