The prospects of achieving a positive outcome from the ongoing Climate Summit at Copenhagen appeared to be waning on Friday after China and India briefly walked out of the conference, refusing to submit to international verification of their efforts to curb the emissions that cause global warming.

Alors qu’une gigantesque campagne de presse présente le sommet de Copenhague sur les changements climatiques comme celui de la dernière chance pour « sauver la planète », Thierry Meyssan estime que, malgré les apparences, les questions en débat ne sont pas d’ordre environnemental, mais financier. Selon lui, il ne s’agirait pas d’inventer un nouveau modèle de production écologique, mais de relancer le capitalisme anglo-saxon. Dans ce premier article, il souligne la méprise initiale : il n’y a pas, à l’ONU, de consensus scientifique. Simplement parce qu’il ne peut pas y en avoir en un tel lieu.

The UN Copenhagen climate talks are in disarray today after developing countries reacted furiously to leaked documents that show world leaders will next week be asked to sign an agreement that hands more power to rich countries and sidelines the UN’s role in all future climate change negotiations.
