The international monetary system itself depends a lot on the US dollar, or, to be precise, on the monetary and financial policy of the US authorities. The BRICS countries want to change this,” Putin said.

“In the year since the Durban Summit, we have managed to achieve significant progress in this direction. In the near future, we expect to finalise all the remaining issues and we will be able to use this Bank’s potential to realise major projects in our countries,” he said.

BRICS has no plans to form a military and political alliance, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday, in an apparent effort to allay apprehensions of the West.

He, however, emphasised that the grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, having “coinciding strategic interests”, wants to change the global monetary order which depends a lot on the US dollar.

Euro-BRICS summit of young leaders in Helsinki on June 8-9

Helsinki will host the first two-day Euro-BRICS Summit of young leaders beginning on June 8, 2015, said a press release.
The event will bring together youth delegations from the EU, Brazil, China, India, South Africa, Russia and the candidate countries for accession to the EU and partner countries.
In addition to youth leaders, diplomatic session will be attended by members of parliament and ministries of Europe and BRICS.

Tarpley’s ignorance of the Russia -Turkey agreement over a gas pipeline to the Greek border is a bit surprising. Chinese investment could play a key role in building a connection between Turkey and central Europe via Greece. Tarpley is probably wrong in supposing that the cancellation of the Piraeus contract is a snub to the Chinese judging by yesterday’s statement by Greek representatives. Given the direction that Tsipras appears to have taken it would indeed be surprising if he sought to alienate the Chinese. The contract can. of course, be renegotiated in terms more sensitive to Greek national interests. Apart from that, a very interesting and informative talk by Tarpley on these startling , new, Greek developments.

Pour Alfredo Jalife, le G20 de Brisbane n’a pas été le théâtre d’un isolement de la Russie, mais d’une fracture toujours plus prononcée entre les membres des BRICS d’un côté, et les alliés de Washington de l’autre.
