1.  DEFRA [UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and FSA [UK’s Food Standards Agency] have worked with the Cabinet Office (1) and DFID [UK’s Department for International Development] on a cunning little plan for insinuating GM into the food supply, for promoting GM crops and foods as “being inevitable”, and for dismissing public opposition to GM. There have been a whole series of announcements from Hilary Benn [DEFRA Minister] and the Government spin machine over the past month or so — this is the very time when the Great British Public is on holiday and snoozing in the sun.  It’s also the “silly season” when news is thin and when maximum coverage (with the invaluable help of the Science Media Centre) is guaranteed from the British media.

After more than 30 years US District Court issues injunction to stop compulsory vaccination

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 – For Immediate Release:

30 years after compulsory vaccination became US Law:

US Court issues an injunction to stop it and to hold the the government and drug companies responsible for reactions.

A Preliminary Injunction to stop mandatory vaccinations has been issued in the United States District Court of New Jersey. This comes after a federal lawsuit opposing forced vaccines was filed in that court by Tim Vawter, pro se attorney, on July 31st with the federal government as defendant. When the judge signs the Preliminary Injunction, it will stop the federal government from forcing anyone in any state to take flu vaccine against their will. It will also prevent a state or local government from forcibly vaccinating anyone, and forbid any person who is not vaccinated from being denied any services or constitutional rights. Vawter’s filings included a Complaint, and several pages of evidentiary Exhibits.

The nationwide revolt against government plans to implement a mass swine flu vaccination program in the United Kingdom has picked up steam, with a poll revealing that a third of NHS nurses will refuse to take the shot.
Despite nurses and frontline health workers being the primary target group to take the vaccine, just 37 per cent of them said they would take the swine flu vaccine in a survey conducted by Nursing Times magazine. 30 per cent said they would not be immunized and 33 per cent said they were unsure. In the wake of the world crash populations are asking not only whether debts should be paid, but whether they can be paid! If they can’t be, then trying to pay will only shrink economics further, preventing them from becoming viable. This is what has led past structural adjustment programs to fail.

For the past decade Iceland has been a kind of controlled experiment, an extreme test case of neoliberal free-market ideology. What has been tested has been whether there is a limit to how far a population can be pushed into debt-dependency. Is there a limit, a point at which government will draw a line against by taking on public responsibility for private debts beyond any reasonable capacity to pay without drastically slashing public spending on education, health care and other basic services? The 19th century Prussian military theorist Carl von Clausewitz wrote in his famous work, On War, “The great uncertainty of all data in war is a peculiar difficulty, because all action must, to a certain extent, be planned in a mere twilight, which in addition not infrequently – like the effect of a fog or moonshine – gives to things exaggerated dimensions and unnatural appearance.” Unsurprisingly, a Clausewitzean war such as the one in the Hindu Kush is often covered in thick fog.
