Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference earlier today in Moscow that anyone who thinks of imposing sanctions against his country should think about their consequences. He said, “I think in today’s world, where everything is interconnected and everyone is dependent on one another in this way or another, we can, of course, inflict damage on one another, but his damage will be mutual. They should think about that, too.” Putin was addressing US president Barack Obama without saying so.

The Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine openly acknowledges his ties with Al-Qaeda.

Indian Punchline

3rd March, 2014

How far the blunt  and threatening posture US secretary of state John Kerry took in his interview with the CBS News toward Moscow — and President Vladimir Putin in person — over the Ukraine situation was genuine and how far it was intended to meet the domestic criticism of the Barack Obama administration being ‘weak’ in its foreign policies doesn’t really matter. What matters is that Kerry demanded virtual capitulation by Russia under the shadow of US retribution and that’s being plain dishonest and unrealistic.

Steinmeier calls for Russian help for Ukraine

Posted by seumasach on March 1, 2014

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who met with the head of the IMF in Washington on Friday, echoed Lagarde’s sentiment.

There was currently little evidence to support “the numbers which are being circulated [in the media],” Steinmeier said.

Steinmeier further called on Russia to help the Ukrainian economy, which recently decided to freeze the multi-billion dollar loans package to Kyiv.

“The stabilization of Ukraine can only succeed if we bring as many partners as possible to the table,” the German foreign minister said.

After having dug a deep hole for themselves the Germans are engaging in the task of getting out of it. Russia hold all the cards and they have no choice but to recognize this reality.
