It looks as if the limits of Federal bailing-out have been reached and we are now into free fall.

Stephen Foley

As the prospects for government help dwindle, beleaguered Lehman Brothers races to find an acquirer to avoid collapse

Mathew Goldstein and David Henry

Business Week

12th September, 2008

It’s looking as though Lehman Brothers (LEH) may not be able to count on the federal government for any help in its hour of need, and that has all of Wall Street shaking. Shares of Lehman sank deeper into penny-stock territory on Friday, Sept. 12, as the beleaguered, 158-year-old firm races to find another bank to buy it in a bid to stave off collapse.

What’s Left
Like the autocratic governments he criticizes, Stephen Zunes’ tolerance of free speech stops at criticism of himself. Yesterday, he asked WordPress.Com, which hosts my blog, What’s Left, to shut me down over critical comments I made in my September 4 post, “The War Over South Ossetia.” This is indeed strange behavior for a critic of autocracies who celebrates pro-democracy movements against governments that allegedly limit civil and political liberties, including advocacy rights.

David Miliband was subjected to an astonishing four-letter tirade from his Russian counterpart at the height of the Georgia crisis.

The Foreign Secretary received the undiplomatic tongue-lashing over the telephone after expressing the EU’s anger with the Kremlin, it was revealed yesterday.

Posted by seumasach on September 13, 2008

A Review of David Ray Griffin’s book

Tod Fletcher

Global Research

12th September, 2008

In THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED, David Ray Griffin provides a brilliant and much-needed companion to his path-breaking and movement-building book on 9/11, The New Pearl Harbor (NPH; 2004). Now, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of those horrific events, Griffin surveys in detail all the main lines of evidence against the official account of 9/11 to have emerged during the last four years. THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED (NPHR) has been designed as volume 2 of a two-volume set with NPH as volume 1; together they provide a thorough and up-to-date case against the official conspiracy theory (they can be bought separately, of course).
