A new paradigm for a post-imperial world

Archive for the ‘Multipolar world’ Category

The New World Order is not turning out as planned. Instead of all power emanating from London and Washington, new power centres are emerging to the South and East: a new global equilibrium raises the possibility of a new post-imperial age of peace and equality between nations.

European Stocks Rise on China Pledge of Help; BNP, Heineken Gain

Bloomberg

15th February, 2012

“China has pledged to contribute to the bailout fund, which not only could increase the firepower available but might also persuade other countries like Japan, Russia, oil-rich states and possibly even the U.S. to actively take part in combating the crisis,” said Markus Huber, head of German sales trading at ETX Capital in London.

China pledged to invest in Europe’s bailout funds and sustain its holdings of euro assets. The commitment offers an incentive to European finance ministers, who are increasing pressure on Greece to deliver budget cuts in exchange for a second bailout.

EuroBRICS. Un basculement dans l’équilibre du monde

Posted by seumasach on February 10, 2012

The Eurasian steppes historically represented a serious security dilemma for Russia’s rulers; without natural barriers to hinder the advance of invaders, the flat Russian borderlands proved nearly impossible to defend using pre-modern means. In the post-Soviet era, the new Russian Federation no longer needs to fear steppe horsemen or Western European troops marching towards Moscow, but controlling the Eurasian landmass still represents a major administrative challenge.

The GCC and NATO lose their leadership

5th February, 2012

Contrary to her position at the time of the attack on Iraq, in the case of Syria France failed to defend the principles of international law, rallying instead the imperial camp and its lies. Together with the United Kingdom and the United States, she has suffered a diplomatic defeat of historic proportions, while Russia and China have become the champions of the sovereignty of peoples and peace. The new international balance of power is not only a consequence of the United States’ military decline, it is also a penalty for their falling prestige. Ultimately, Western powers have lost the leadership they enjoyed throughout the twentieth century, having forsaken all legitimacy by betraying their own values.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has set at rest firmly and authoritatively all speculative reports that India might buckle under American pressure and fall in line passively with the spirit of the United States’ sanctions against Iran by quietly cutting back its oil imports from Iran. That FM made the categorical statement while on a visit to the US is of added significance.

20th January, 2012

With the survival of the euro area at stake, and the reform of the international monetary system no longer a priority of the G20 presidency, it may seem strange to call for an increased international role of the euro. But the flaws of an international monetary system centered on the US dollar are substantial and these flaws are likely to inflate as world economic growth is mainly driven by emerging countries.
