This analysis contains the following sensational revelation which I have no way of confirming but makes perfect sense in the context of the overall situation
“The signing of the agreement was threatened by the fall of Palmyra, which cut the « Silk Road », in other words the communications route between Iran on one side, and Syria and Hezbollah on the other [10]. In the event that Palmyra should remain in the hands of the jihadists (in other words the mercenaries who are fighting against the « Axis of Resistance » [11]), Teheran would be unable to transport its gas and export it to Europe, and would therefore have no interest in signing an agreement with Washington.
The Assistant Secretary of State thus informed the meeting that he had authorised the « Axis of Resistance » to bring fresh troops into Syria in order to defeat Daesh. By that he meant 10,000 Revolutionary Guards, who would reinforce the Syrian Arab Army before the 30th June. So far, the Syrians have been defending themselves alone, with help only from the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Turkish PKK, but without Russian or Iranian troops or Iraqi militia.”

After long hesitating, the Obama administration has adopted its new defense doctrine. For the Levant, it is no longer a question of “reshaping the broader Middle East”, nor of overthrowing President Bashar Assad, but only of “reducing” the Islamic Emirate. In yet another rather embarrassing event for The White House, just days after President Obama praised the French for helping in the fight against ISIS, and General martin Dempsey noted “the French were our very first ally and they’re with us again now,” French officials have, according to Reuters, ruled out participation in airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria. With the fall of France (and Germany already saying “nein”), it appears the broad coalition is now a “coalition of none,” as Obama has stated the US would not go it alone…

President al-Assad: Combating terrorism begins by pressuring the states that support and fund terrorist organizations

Damascus, President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday received Faleh al-Fayyad, the Iraqi National Security Advisor and envoy of the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.
Al-Fayyad briefed President al-Assad on the latest developments in Iraq and the efforts exerted by the Iraqi government and people to confront terrorists, with emphasis during the meeting on the need to bolster cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the field of combating the terrorism which is affecting Syria and Iraq and which poses a threat to the region and the world.
President al-Assad said that combating terrorism begins by pressuring the states that support and fund terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq and that are now claiming to combat terrorism.
The President expressed satisfaction over the level of the standing cooperation with the Iraqi leaderships in terms of confronting terrorist organizations, noting that this cooperation has produced positive results for the two countries and the region.
For his part, al-Fayyad asserted the strength of the relations between Syria and Iraq and the need to remove any obstacle that hinders counterterrorism in order for security and stability to prevail in the region.
The meeting was attended by Syria’s Ambassador to Iraq Sattam Jada’an al-Dandah.
